Hey Mudcatters- I'm trying to find the lyrics and chords to the Welsh Christmas carol, "Tua Bethlem Dref" as a surprise for my step-mother for Christmas. It was featured in/on "A Child's Christmas in Wales" from many moons ago. Any chance someone out there has the sheet music (not findable via Google) or knows the chords/lyrics and is willing to share? I'm willing to pay for the sheet music if someone has it laying about. It would mean so much to her!

Merry merry!

Rebecca

Thanks for the link, Newport Boy. Our band has a member of Welsh descent, and we are always interested in Welsh music.

Copied from the PDF file—see Newport Boy's link above:

ON TO BETHLEHEM TOWN (TUA BETHLEM DREF)

1. On to Bethlehem town;
Join the crowd and travel down;
Down the road that leads us to the cradle.
Come all who are able.
Come, come to the stable with
Hearts full of joy as we kneel and pray
Come and see the child,
With his mother Mary mild.
Come along and worship at the cradle.

2. There we'll see the boy;
Hearts aglow with boundless joy;
In the everlasting word.
We will bow before for Him
Come, come and adore Him
Bringing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
On to Bethlehem town;
Join the crowd and travel down.
Down the road that leads us to the cradle.

The score is Here
Requires a download of Sibelius to read it (if you don't already have Sibelius), and words are in English, but it's a start.

Here I am, four years later, thrilled to have found your links to the music for this lovely carol. Thank you!

Greetings all..

I had read that this carol was composed c. 1934, but was wondering if anyone knew whether or not it was a poem attached to an existing melody, or all of it newly composed. I have heard it done by a Breton choir with a different set of lyrics. Thanks for the help in advance!

Hi, R.Mouland. I hope you don't mind that I transferred your message over to the existing thread on this song. There's a bit on the origins of this song at
