Brighton Acoustic Session
Monday January 5th 2009
Nick Burbridge
Brighton based Anglo-Irish writer Nick Burbridge is a published poet and novelist and two of his plays have been broadcast on BBC Radio 4.
But he is better known locally as a singer songwriter whose songs have been recorded by The Levellers and his own band, McDermott's 2 Hours.
A dynamic live performer, his lyrical melodies frame an uncompromising and passionate commitment to the dispossessed at the fringes of society.
He will be accompanied by Ben Paley, who has been described by Britain's leading acoustic magazine Folk Roots as, "The finest folk fiddler of his generation."
The Brighton Acoustic Session meets on the first Monday of the month at The Lord Nelson in Trafalgar Street, Brighton – 9pm start, admission free, with a collection.
