NEW YORK (AP) - Donald Westlake, a prolific author considered one of the most successful and versatile mystery writers in the United States, has died. He was 75. Westlake collapsed from an apparent heart attack as he headed to New Year's Eve dinner while vacationing in Mexico, his wife, Abigail, told the New York Times.

My father was a fan of his. I have been selling a lot of his paperback mysteries on eBay and those went early.

I've read or seen a fair bit of his work often under his various pseudonyms. RIP Mr. Westlake.

I'll miss him too, along with Dortmunder, Kemp and the other petty criminals.

There was a non-Dortmunder book by him which left a legacy to me and the DH. It is 'Our two brains beat as one,' which means that we had the same idea at the same time.
