Travis, if the name doesn't ring a bell, was one half of Bud & Travis, the great duo of the late 1950's and early 1960's. Their work with two classical guitars and great harmonies was often quite remarkable, especially their Latin American songs such as Malaguena Salerosa and Rayito de Luna. He was also a member of the Gateway Singers and had a solid solo career both before and after Bud & Travis. The family is asking for prayers of support. |
02 Jan 09 - 02:48 PM (#2529846) Subject: RE: Travis Edmonson in critical condition From: Little Robyn That's very sad. I've been looking for his song "The things I've saved" but can't find it anywhere. Now is probably the time to sing it. It's about 40 years since we used to sing it so I'll see if I can remember..... The things I've saved I'm finally leavin' After all One more word I don't wanna holler down the hall Everybody leaves something when they go away When I'm gone here's what I hope will stay.... Violets in springtime, Starry nights in fall, Sunlight on a summer's morning (evening?) Love to warm you when the snowflakes fall, The spark that's in the eyes of children, Secrets whispered by the sea, Countryside like a great cathedral A place called home, a land forever free. This will be my last will and testament Being of sound body and mind This will be my last will and testament These are the things I've saved To leave behind. I think that's it. Not really what I call folk anymore but we used to belt it out in the 60s and my sister and I both love the sentiments. I'll try to sing it for you Travis. Go in peace. Robyn |

02 Jan 09 - 04:21 PM (#2529934) Subject: RE: Travis Edmonson in critical condition From: Little Robyn Thanks TJ. Just a couple of corrections: I'm finally leavin'after all One LAST word..... Everybody leaves something when HE goes away... Trouble is, the clip stops just as the song gets started. I hope he pulls through - the news site suggested it wasn't actually the cancer but the treatment that was upsetting him. Hang in there Travis. Robyn in New Zealand |
