Now using Thomastick Superflexible. Other fiddlers recommending Old Fiddler, Prim, some even recommending a cheap chinese brand - I believe Hayina or something to that effect. The main thing seems to be to use steel strings rather than those with perlon cores (like Dominant) because of the retuning required to play Old Time in different keys. Generally, different fiddles are suited to different strings, so the best sound is one you have to seek out by trial and error IMHO. Cheers Ray |
