It's only three weeks until Rainy camp. Who all from the Puget Sound area is coming again this year? MG ... are you going to make it up? (I hope) I'll be teaching a workshop on Saturday about "Performance Skills." Hoping to see some reguliars and share some songs! Bob Nelson

Hi Mary, I'm sorry you can't make it. I was looking forward to a good sans-book session. I'll just have to do it myself!

I'm planning to do a workshop titled "Songs of the Sea"
It will be songs, but not sea chanties
(maybe someone else will do those).
Actually, I was thinking of calling it
"Uncommon Sea Songs - not-in-the-book."
I've done several 'songs of the sea' concerts recently,
and most of the songs are contemporary 'in-the-tradition.'
I could sing and teach any of these songs, but I would also
be interested in hearing other less-common songs
that others might contribute.

Well we've already had our record snows,
and now record rains with floods,
so maybe we might have some more typical
NW weather (whatever that is),
and hopefully the roads will be fixed by then.

See ya then,
Cheers, S. in Seattle

Stew ... Our recent torrential rains suggest that YOU lead a group sing, sans RUS, perhaps with "The Old Arks a Moverin ..." bob

Bob,

From reading the response I know that you'll be there, at least for a day. I'll be there. Oh yes, and I'll be bringing Paddy Graber if he's well enough to come, as he says he is. Mary won't be there - that's too bad. Francy hopefully can make it. Barry will be thinking of all the books to be seen there, but I doubt he'll be there.

So, where are all the others? Any others?

At least you and I won't be using books!

Cheers, S. in Seattle

Paddy Graber won't make it this time - his doctors won't let him travel. Otherwise, he's feeling fine, but disappointed that he'll have to miss it this year.

So that brings it down to Bob (Deckman), myself and perhaps Francy. Any others? I heard they had over 50 registered at least several weeks ago. The limit, I think is 100. Even though the stated deadline was Jan. 10th, I think you can still register up until a week before, when they they have to tell the caterers how many people to expect.

Is Fred Maslan out there? Fred, can you respond and tell us more? Fred is one of the organizers.

"Where some of us still don't use the book!" SHEEUH ... don't you read your own writing? You're talking about people "booking" reservations! (what's this world coming too?) bob

I'll be there without any books and with several songs of the sea but not chanties. Looking forward to it. Sorry Paddy won't be there. He has a amazing repertoire and amazing stamina for singing late into the night! I'm hoping several others from Portland will be making the trip but I haven't done the networking yet because I'm up to my eyeballs in organizing our Sean-Nos Festival, to be held this weekend.

Cheers,

David

Here's the latest from Bruce, one of the organizers.

"Plans are shaping up and there are a lot of workshops. The Fall City road should be fixed Friday, we are set to do a walk-through the Monday before camp. Registrations are still pouring in. typical for this camp. If it were a dance camp, it would have been full two months ago."
