Katbertmax--I can't get the site. I get this instead:

404 Not Found

The requested URL was not found on this server: /media.mudcat.org/bert.ram

(C:\webserver\mudcat\htdocs\media.mudcat.org\bert.ram)

--seed (maybe because I don't yet have Real Audio downloaded?)

I just checked, I have some 37 audio files and programs, but I get the same message, 404 File Not Found. Is Real Audio different from Real Player? I have Real Player G2, supposedly the latest versio, among others.

I have RealPlayer (G2) version 6.0.3.143, and it works fine. If you click on the link and your browser tries to open the site, something isn't set up right. I used to know how to fix this in Windows, and I can figure it out again, but right now I'm drawing a blank. The only thing I can think of is to try re-installing RealPlayer, and if it asks you if you want to make it your default program for sound files, say "yes."

If you get the message from inside RealPlayer, I dunno...

Y'know, it'd be really cool if we could record over the web. We could have a Mudcat "open mike" night!

Of course, folks with microphones on their 'puters could record a song and send them to Max, and he could magically convert them to RealAudio, and...ok, I'll stop now.

WOW! What a totally awesome thing to wake up to! My first thread out of the chute this morning! Course the name got my attention! Okay, Bert, yer off the hook for that recording.

Thank you so much, Bert & Max.

The wonders of 'pewters!

Bert, I like your tune and the slight variations in words. It sounds great and you have a wonderful voice. I really liked what you did with the pickin', too!

For anyone who is interested, my tune is a bit more minor in modality and I will learn ABC enough to post it here, in the next few days. The crowd seemed to like it well enough, when bet and I sang it a couple of weekends ago.

BTW Phoaks: this may not have had a tune at all, on my end, had Bert not asked about it when I wrote it into the "A Song for Littleton" thread. I just thought I was writing a spontaneous poem. Bert took it one step further when he complimented me and asked if I had a tune to go with it. So....it's all his fault!:-) THANKS! BERT!

Thank you, thank you!!! Bravo! encore, encore!!

Katlaughing, grateful and with a bit of a swelled head!:-)

Thanks Kat, The moment I first read the lyrice I knew I just had to sing it. It's a great song.

I'm glad you approve of the variations. I just sang it the way it felt to me.

Love Ya,

Bert.

Boy, Bert, for someone who has been working on healing her heart for the past two years, you sure do know how to help it along! You have made my heart sing with gratitude and happiness. I find that happening a lot here, at the Mudcat. Thanks Bert, Max, & everyone.

Love ya,

kat

Rick, Don't know why you can't hear it, it's 'real audio'. Email Max and see if he can fix it for you or maybe send it to you in a different format.

Bert.

Yeah, Rick - if you can listen to your own radio program on your computer, you should be able to listen to Bert. You have upgraded to RealPlayer G2, haven't you? If you're having problems, stop at the Help forum for counseling.
I note that RealPlayer is getting a little tricky about their download pages. the players you pay for are easy to find, and you have to look a bit for the free ones. The link above goes to the cheap seats.

Well, Rick, ya could always call me or Bert and we could hum a few bars! Better yet, do a three-way call and get us in stereo!:-)

I used Tony Burn's link in his post and it sounded fine! Nice lyrics and very well performed in true folk tradition by Bert. Thanks to all for a neat experience!
