Link: Obama's Train (Bayou Seco)

I came across this song, which seems particularly appropriate right now with Obama on his train journey from Philadelphia to Washington. And it's a great clip anyway.

I posted a link to this YouTube clip on a thread below the line, but I know there are those who have a thing about never going down here, and I thought it's be a shame if they missed it.

I knew I'd heard them before - I think it must have been in the Volunteer at Sidmouth back in 2003. Except it was so crowded never got n the door and saw them. Here's a piece about Bayou Seco from then. And here is the website.

Great music.

I got totally caught up in that interview and read all of it.
What an incredible musical odyssey. I'll now make a point of familiarizing myself with their music. Thank you.

It was. The first photo on the site that you have linked to was one that I took to go with the transcription of my interview. It shows Ken Keppeler, Jeanie McLerie and Paul Paul Rangell playing together at one of those fabulous lunchtime sessions at the Volunteer in Sidmouth.

Except it was so crowded never got n the door and saw them.
It was ever thus. You had to arrive very early just to get in the door, never mind find a seat.

Here's a piece about Bayou Seco from then. And here is the website.

Great music.

Thanks, McGrath! Wonderful song and mygosh! I wonder I hadn't heard of them, before this. And, I wonder if my dad didn't run into them when he was in Louisiana playing with some "old boys" who were doing zydeco.

Great interview, Vic, thanks. Also, I have copied the information you posted and put it in a separate thread so folks can find it easily.
