Check out Mary Doria Russel. She is actually unpretenious about religion and the mind of God while weaving many scientific threads. "God forgets. Just like we know that the terrible twos are a trying time, we forget how bad it is until we experience it. God may know how hard free will of a species can be starting with don't eat that fruit and escalting to 10 commandments as mankind gets more contentious..." btw she converted to Judaism. As if the razor-blade voice weren't enough, she's as nervous and jumpy as a cat on a hot tin roof (to coin an old phrase). Continually interrupting both the interviewer and even herself.
