People usually didn't drive when it was icy, but there were a few. And if you steered into a parked car, it could be deadly. More than a little blood was shed on those wintry afternoons. Another time I remember landing with such a thud on a mountain intertubing track (set aside for tubes at an area ski slope) that I gave it up right there--I realized if I'd landed just a little differently I'd have broken my neck.
