here is some info about her and the accident..is a sledge like a sled?

it sounds like they were riding down a snowy hill on some roofing
material or on a car roof, so there was no way to steer or stop it.

Dangerous things.
Commiserations to the family.
Mariska Hargitay, the actress,(S.C.U.) suffered a collapsed lung in a sledding accident, recently.

I shudder to think the close calls we had as kids sledding down steep streets on hills with cross streets and parked cars. People usually didn't drive when it was icy, but there were a few. And if you steered into a parked car, it could be deadly. More than a little blood was shed on those wintry afternoons. Another time I remember landing with such a thud on a mountain intertubing track (set aside for tubes at an area ski slope) that I gave it up right there--I realized if I'd landed just a little differently I'd have broken my neck.

No way in the world I'm giving it up, though risks there may be. Christmas was awesome.
