I just got a royalty check from my publisher. The book is no longer selling like ladders in a burning building, but it is selling. Still $5.95.

Yes indeed. You can burn the unsold books for heat -- and you might have to.

Friends,
I suspect that some the stories in Kendall's book are not exactly true. In fact some of them might be stretchers all together. A few are likely to be bold-faced lies, but I just can't tell which ones.

I myself have never told a lie in my life and therefore cannot detect prevarication in the Captain's stories; I leave that up to you.

Did I mention his stories are funny? Some of them made me laugh out loud. One or two made my knees weak, and brought tears to my eyes. Of course my exwife could do that, too, and she wasn't funny at all.

I think you'd like this book if you like to laugh. I'd give you mine but these days I need laughter more than ever.
regards,
Chance Shiver

I only own two books: The Bible and Tales Told In The Kitchen. They are all I or anyone else need.

In the beginning, there was a farmer's daughter...
Raparie, that is priceless.

My personally signed copy, replete with birthday wishes, won in the Mudcat Auction, is prominently displayed on my living room coffee table.

Funny? Fer starters, the front cover is funny. Artwork by Tim Sample and forward by Marshall Dodge.

Thanks again, K.

Kendall

I think Raparie might have an occasional flirtation with mendacity himself, but of course I couldn't know for sure, but you could probably spot a fib at a great distance.

Back on the 'Stories Told In The Kitchen'. I was pleased to see that the print was LARGE, so if I held it at arm's length to read since I couldn't find my glasses, I was yet successful. Susette said they were on the top of my head, but I don't know, I refused to look.

regards,
chance

Rapaire tells only the truth, the complete truth, the whole truth. Sometimes he tells a truth and a half, or even two or three truths, all at once. Every year whilst he was a-growin' he won the St. Dismas School For Wayward Youth Truth-Telling Medal, kindergarten through high school. In college he was famous for his forthright truthfulness, which is why he didn't have any friends and never got a date.

The moral of that story is telling the truth will seldom provide you with an opportunity to mate.
