11 Feb 09 - 11:38 PM (#2564598) Subject: RE: BS: Aussie Bush Fire (Photos) From: Sandra in Sydney I have a similarly cute pic of a koala sitting in the fork of a tree during a downpour some years back. You've never seen a wetter, more dejected looking critter. A cute koala proved it's not to be trifled with a few year back when it was being cuddled by a politician in a photo op - it piddled on him! Both pics made the front pages of the papers, as I'm sure the dehydrated koala did. sandra YouTube - koala drinking water Thirsty koala hails cyclist & other koala pics search on koala and water and feb 2009 fires |
12 Feb 09 - 04:29 AM (#2564695) Subject: RE: BS: Aussie Bush Fire (Photos) From: Joybell Alpacas just hate doggy animals and that includes foxes of course. Our neighbour lent his Alpacas to a pair of Swans on his dam. Often ground-nesting birds loose their babies to foxes. Last year the Swans raised 7 babies. Cheers, Joy |
12 Feb 09 - 06:20 AM (#2564744) Subject: RE: BS: Aussie Bush Fire (Photos) From: Sandra in Sydney The bloke selling alpacas as guards for sheep had several pics showing sheep & alpacas mingling happily, & a description of alpaca behaviour around foxes, but didn't mention they could bond with swans, too. the dog approaching the sheep was a dumb fluffy slipper type of dog that had been annoying people, & piddled on the pen containing the sheep & alpaca! Talk about provocation, good thing they were behind a fence otherwise we would have seen an alpaca chase off a dog! If it had been sensible enough to run away from a large sharp-hoofed animal. |

Goatfell has no understanding of my dear friends either --- I'm cross -- I'm weary. Please just go away and leave us alone. Sandra, Thank you so much for this thread. Many of us REALLY need it. I'll say it again. WE REALLY NEED THIS THREAD. Joy |
