Well not exactly all mine as some Scottish bloke might have had something to do with the lyrics. (o; Ive always been a big folk fan and decided to have a do at a few and perhaps do some gigs. Though i have a low opinion of my voice and wondered what people thought... http://www.myspace.com/beardsallowed |

Guitar and voice are lovely in both tone and quality. Infact... do you go to any folk clubs or such like? I notice from your myspace you are from the north east. |
23 Feb 09 - 10:40 AM (#2573752) Subject: RE: Review: Is this any good From: katlaughing I agree! Love the tune you've given it and I don't usually like it very much when a tune deviates from what I am used to. Excellent playing and singing. I esp. like that your voice is clear and strong without being overbearing. Good luck and thanks for sharing!! And, welcome to the Mudcat Cafe! |

I couldn't hear anything when I first got onto the page, so remember you may need to adjust the volume slider on that site's own player (horizontal bar, right above "Plays today"). Nice stuff - |

23 Feb 09 - 08:09 PM (#2574257) Subject: RE: Review: Is this any good From: Don Firth Excellent, folkyshaun! Nothing at all wrong with the voice. Very good! I think I can sympathize with the feeling. People tell me I have a good singing voice and I've made my living singing for a goodly portion of my life, so I guess it can't be that bad. Nevertheless, just about every time I hear a recording of myself, it's major cringe time! Never quite up to what I want it to be. But from over here, your voice sounds fine. Clean, clear, and pleasant to listen to. And the guitar work is really nice. But one suggestion, if I may: the instrumental interlude between verses is very good, but if it were me, I would not play it between every verse. I'd use it a bit more sparingly. Like seasoning. Your mileage may vary. . . . Don Firth |

24 Feb 09 - 03:10 AM (#2574395) Subject: RE: Review: Is this any good From: Fidjit Yeah nice. Intro is a shad long, but then I don't like long intros to songs. I prefer to get straight at the meat and gravy. See you on MYSPACE Chas |

24 Feb 09 - 04:00 PM (#2574959) Subject: RE: Review: Is this any good From: Harmonium Hero Nowt wrong wi' the voice. I've never been impressed with mine either, but people keep telling me I've got a lovely voice. You never hear your own voice the way others hear it. And, of course you are the one - being the operator - who knows all the shortcomings. But you've nowt to worry about, I can assure you. Hope to hear you around the clubs. John Kelly. |

01 Mar 09 - 07:12 PM (#2578878) Subject: RE: Review: Is this any good From: DADGBE Folkyshaun, you're asking the wrong question. I doesn't matter what anybody else thinks of your music. Do you like it? Does it move you? If you're good with it, others will be as well. Just for the record, I loved it. . . |

02 Mar 09 - 12:07 AM (#2579000) Subject: RE: Review: Is this any good From: GUEST If you were on the radio I would not change the station. If you were in a pub I'd turn away from the bar and put a dollar in your jar. The drone tuning and fingerpicking technique of the guitar accompaniment lends a solemnity to the tune, especially on the grim John Barleycorn arrangement. |
