His performances and recordings in the duo with John have gained the singer and multi-instrumentalist numerous awards and plaudits from the press. His brainchild, Bellowhead, has achieved an enormous following throughout Europe, appeared on the Jools Holland programme and headlined the first Folk Day at the BBC Royal Albert Hall Proms. With the imminent release of his latest solo CD, "Songs From The Floodplain", Jon has embarked on a short tour in the company of The Remnant Kings. The line up of the Kings is Sam Sweeney (percussion and fiddle), Dave Angel (electric and acoustic guitars), Matt Grime (double bass) and Rob Harbron (concertina), who recently performed at the Maltings with the Methera Quartet. I have just received a copy of "Songs From The Floodplain" and it is by any standards a captivating work which really demands being heard far and beyond the folk scene. |

There is a London date, but sadly not the late lamented Spitz but the nearly as good Luminaire on Wednesday, but I'll be somewhere else. I'm still (unusually) lost for words on the subject of how excellent in all aspects Songs From The Floodplain is |
