Thanks, Snail, but I am interested in the lyrics to that song only. I bought the 'Grand Conversation' CD, but it has no lyric sheet. I can transcribe song, but I was hoping someone might have the lyrics to hand. I don't fancy spending 8 quid plus postage to Oz for one song! Thanks for taking the time to post.

You could try contacting Mick Ryan (or Pete Harris) via their website - last updated in December.

REPRISALS
(Mick Ryan)

We came to the village at dawn
Bitter the tears that are shed
More bitter those that are not
There's blood in the heart
So hark. Don't worry your head
These people are dead

The air was filled with our cries
The baying of hounds to the sound
Of the hart as it dies
"This child is your foe and you know
The mother's a whore
Break down the door"

I still remember the sound
The sound of the words that I heard
But could not understand
The fear in the voice and the noise
Of the cracked chapel bell
The weeping in Hell

And still I remember the smell
The fire in the thatch and the catch
Of the smoke in my eyes
The blood on the face, the disgrace
When duty was done
The kick of the gun

Others will reap the wind
Seeds we have sown will be blown
To another man's time
Sins of the father will fall
Upon those yet unborn
Others will mourn

Others will rue this day
Vengeance is sour in the hour
When your own children die
Time after time the crime
Will echo in pain
Again and again and again and again and again.

Hope this doesn't arrive too late.

Many thanks, Mick, for taking the trouble to post the lyrics. It is too late for the themed presentation I was preparing for a folk festival in June last year, but I am sure many 'catters will be pleased to have the words of your fine song available.

Cheers, Stewie.

Joe, my apologies for posting as a guest above. Once again, I failed to notice that a Norton weekly cleanup had eaten my cookie.
