Besides lurchers, there's other singular beasts to be found at the 3 Stags.

A petrified cat found down the local lead mines, and last year, from the menu, you could choose guinea pig!

Will there be a list of 'banned' songs available so as not to incur the terrible wrath of the Landlord this year? 8~). Are you doing a 'performers hiring fair', if so, do I have to book? Also it would be usefull to know before hand if any musical styles are frowned on, ie Strumming the guitar or flat picking, or playing Irish music 'too fast'. Are piano accordions still frowned upon or do melodeon players still get stroppy when you don't play in "their key"?
Life is so complicated these days! See ya' soon :)

I seem to recall that as long as you don't sing 'Whiskey in the jar' you'll be fine. Oh, and you MUST play in D/G. :-)

Song suggestions:

Possibly 'The Fields of Ath' or 'The Fields of Rye' but not both together!!

Re- Hiring Fair:

Pass applications to Mr Happy in his consulting rooms either in large blue marquee on campsite or otherwise Room 3,3 Stags Heads Inn.

A small fee is applicable = a double gin, whisky, vodka or other beverage of Mr Happy's choice.

Concessions for unwaged, disabled etc: Just a single of above will suffice!

The 173 runs about two- hourly from Castleton and Hope to Ashford and Bakewell so you can either get the train to Hope, or the Transpeak bus to Ashford, and go from there.

Weekend Workshops

Every morning around dawn

+/- 50m dash to facilities block, followed by hopping up & down with both legs tightly clenched while waiting for the sitting tenant to emerge.

+/- 50m dash back to tent, having forgotten to bring paper [to read!]

Following discussions with the Gloom Band at our Gloomaround session last night, it's been decided that the main strike force will depart for the deepest depths of darkest Derbyshire sometime on Good Friday, 10th April, rather than on the Thursday as previously thought.

The logic behind this decision being that the pub won't be open 'til Friday.

Well, Mr Happy's run another great long weekend. Unfortunately I had to leave this morning (fiddle workshop down south to get to), but Friday and Saturday were superb. Excellent singers and players, just enough to fill the back room of the 3 Stags Heads and create a superb friendly supportive atmosphere, with amazing beer and food. I'll be back next time....

Sorry I've been somewhat tardy in responding to the plaudits!

This year's do was one've the best yet & I'm very conscious that it was only really able to take off in the way it did, due to the contributions from the great many 'mystery guests' who attended.

Many thanks to all who came & made the weakend such a great one, and I hope we'll meet up again at other bashes during the summer

For a number of reasons, Mr Happy's Easter Fit of Pique in Derbyshire won't take place this year - that's the bad news [or good news, according your opinion!]

However, I've been able to establish a new venue & will begin a new thread to elucidate
