Anyone know this tune? Sierra Noble plays it on youtube. She certainly does a beautiful and haunting playing of it.

Is it a tune of her own, maybe?

From her (appallingly designed) website, it looks like there might not be much more like that in the future - she seems to want to be a pop star.

Here is her account of the tune..

GRANDMA BLANCHE/THE METIS PRAYER Grandma Blanche is a song I wrote ...

It is a beautiful tune and she plays it extremely well.

Much better than her "pop singing"

Thanks, fellahs. I was so interested in the tune, last night, I didn't even think to look for her website. I enjoyed reading what she wrote about the tune. I'd prefer hearing more of that type of music from her, but her songs don't sound that bad, from what I am hearing on cdbaby. Not trad, but not bad. Ha! I'm a poet!**bg**

Hello All

Just wanted to say hello and also try to answer some of your questions about 20 year old fiddler Sierra Noble.
Sierra is firstly a fiddler and always will be and yes she still performs traditional fiddle music in all of her shows, everywhere she goes.
The fiddle and traditional music is a big part of who Sierra Noble is, the fiddle is her first love but yes she has now discovered another part of herself as a singer/songwriter - which has given Sierra another form of expression, another voice... ...Sierra's music is a blessing in her life and has taken her to many parts of the world where she always shares the fiddle music she has grown up with.

Sierra opened for Sir Paul McCartney last year, was one of the six Hero Fiddlers featured in the Opening Ceremonies for the 2010 Olympics and most recently she performed at Lilith Fair.
Tomorrow Sierra will be performing for the Queen of England during her Royal Visit to Canada to lay the cornerstone of the new Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

For anyone who enjoys Sierra's music you can hear one of Sierra's concerts that was taped live last year at Celtic Colours International Festival free online
- Click here to listen to this concert

Sierra has two CD's out so far "Spirit of the Strings" and "Possibilities" - both are available on i tunes -

Sierra's first CD "Spirit of the Strings" is all Old Time and Traditional fiddle music.

Her latest EP "Possibilities" is a mix of her vocals and fiddle tunes - one fiddle tune being the "Warriors Lament" which she performed in France for the 90th Anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.

Sierra will be releasing a new CD sometime later this year or early next year.
She has been spending a lot of time in Nashvile writing and recording over the past few months.
Sierra's website is www.sierranoble.ca. She is also on Facebook   and Myspace.

Hope this helps.

All the Best to you!
