Does anyone think that this is a little suspicious, given the events of the last year???

I think it is really sad. They had been married just a couple of years longer than my Rog and I. Here's what a bit of what BBC news bit reported:

The BBC's Peter Biles in Johannesburg says that given the fierce rivalry between Zimbabwe's political parties, there will - inevitably - be speculation about the cause of this crash.

So far, though, officials of Mr Tsvangirai's MDC party have said nothing to suggest that there may have been foul play, our correspondent says.

All Zimbabwe's roads are in a poor state of repair, after years of neglect and the collapse of the country's infrastructure, he adds.

This is really sad news.

I've been impressed with Morgan Tsvangarais' courage and his commitment to democratic change. The MDC want an independent probe so I suppose it is best to wait until a full investigation has been carried out.

Imagine how he must be feeling. He has suddenly and unexpectedly lost his wife, he is lying injured in hospital and Robert Mugabe has visited him. He must be absolutely devastated.

Careful, GS - nobody's allowed to have "suspicions" on here. The UCPC (Usual Captains of Political-Correctness) will be down on you like a ton of bricks if you're not careful, with accusations of racism, sexism, tory-ism, or even (gasp!) Christianity-ism! LOL!

And yes, it does seem to be taking the concept of 'co-incidence' to a new level. Time will tell (or maybe not, given the nature of the lying, murdering self-abuser currently presiding over Zimbabwe).

Yep, Eanjay, I bet the last thing he needed was to look up from his hospital bed and, through the haze of pain and grief, see Ebagum looking down at him. The stuff nightmares are made of.

GS, His people seem to be playing down the conspiracy aspect, saying that it looks like a simple traffic accident. Time may tell if this is the case.
Has any recent leader worked as hard to destroy his country as Mugabe...I mean besides GWB?
Backwoodsman, your first sentence is just bizarre in the context of this thread. GS made a reasonable conjecture, and no-one has accusationed him of racism, sexism, tory-ism, or even (gasp!) Christianity-ism. Issues, much?

My thoughts exactly, Skivee.

Skivee, Kat - GS is a personal friend of mine in the Real World, and it was an 'in' joke. We discuss Mudcat-doings every second Friday over a beer and a song or two. He knows exactly what I meant, and why.

Given that the lorry was loaded with U.S. relief supplies, I would hope the driver was not involved in a CONSPIRACY.

It appears to have been an unfortunate accident. The accident might have been avoided if Svangarais had been provided a larger security escort.
