Though not free, the price is likely to be *Considerably* lower than the price The Lewes Arms tried to charge the town's Saturday Folk Club from January this year. Whilst the both town's Clubs may be happy at the moment, this sounds like an interesting venue for a Special Folk Night or reserve club room. Worth calling in also for special outdoor folk events this Spring/Summer - or a bar session anyway? The pub was until recent years on CAMRA's Real Ale trail and is in a lovely setting. When the Lewes Saturday Folk Club (formerly the Lewes Arms, now at the Elephant & Castle) puts on several all-day workshops on the same day, we need to use more than one pub at a time. At the moment we use the Elephant itself, the Crown and the Royal Oak; it's always handy to know of another possible venue. The Snowdrop used to be veggie and also sold antique furniture, so you could buy a meat-free pie and a table to put it on as well. It's a pleasant, slightly dotty pub in a quiet cul-de-sac and has a bit of garden. It used to run The Alternative Miss World Competiton, a drag extravaganza with attitude. Valmai (Lewes) |
