The monthly shanty/forebitter/ballad session will take place on 21 March, at the Press Room in Portsmouth NH from 3:30 to 7:30 PM.

The weather is supposed to be sublime, for March, and it will be nice to have a good turnout. Some newcomers would be swell too.

See you on Saturday - Tom

Can't make this one - we will be down south for a couple of weeks. Have lots of fun.

I'll be there as well.

Maybe I'll try leading an Ethiopian sea shanty.

Chris Maden stopped by at the St. Patrick's gig and allowed as he'll be bringing two or three friends along.

And sadly, we'll miss Jeri as she's in Toronto for the Rick Fielding remembrance concert.

Is anyone else planning on coming?

Saturday - Tom

Have a good time, folks! The weather up here is lovely, the drive was lovely and I've discovered there IS land under the snow. Wish I could be in two places at once, especially since you'll all be tormenting celebrating Tami's irthb'day.

All you chantey folk... I hope that you are aware that the Ancient Mariners Chanteymen and Fife and Drum Corps will perform in concert on Saturday, March 28 at the Rockport Opera House in Rockport ME as part of the Bay Chamber Concerts series. www.baychamberconcerts.org

And then, there will be a free pub sing with the Ancient Mariners on Sunday, March 29 at 4:00 p.m. at Gilbert's Publick House in Camden.

I have a gig this Saturday, or else I'd be down in Portsmouth encouraging you all in person!

It certainly was nice to be in attendance again after missing last month, having strayed to Ethiopia. This time I was more careful in rounding the Kittery rotary!

We didn't gather in a full crew until about 5:30 but by then we had at least 14 full-throated singers: Tom and Linn, Bob, Peadar, Chris, Mark, Mary, Tami, Peter and Joanne, Barbara, Barry, myself and one newcomer whose name I didn't catch. And there was another half dozen or so singing along at the side tables.

Let's see I led Bound Away (Bill Adams), Bully in the Alley, Port of Dreams (CFS), Wreck of the Lady Washington (Nikki Perry), Lee Fore Brace (CFS), Leave Her Johney Leave Her (CFS) and my new song inspired by my revisit to Ethiopia, Evening Shadows Fall.

It was great to see and hear the gang again.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

A lovely evening and a chance to celebrate Tami's birthday. Was the newcomer Jason?

Sinsull-

No, the new person (new to me) who was leading songs was seated at the far corner of Linn's table.

The cake was awesome!

The deer was even more so, not to mention the atrocious puns.

Charley Noble

Charlie, that was Marty. He's been coming in on Fridays & Saturdays for maybe the past few months. Where have you been?
Yes, it was a nice size crowd & a great group to sing with.
Another lovely session

Jason enjoyed his first trip to the Press Room very much and it wouldn't surprise me if I couldn't lure out again sometime. And it was a wonderful way to celebrate turning 40, especially since I got carded!
