Spaw, I can't spot a reference to the egg in that newletter; is there word out as to when it should be expected to hatch it it's viable? Sure would be great to catch the moment live. Someone posted a link here a year or two ago and she nibbled. Now she updates the status of 10 or so nests daily, and is an administrator for the Hancock Wildlife Forum. It is amazing to watch them grow in 10 weeks or so from fluffball to a fledgling the size of a parent. Cheerily, Charley Noble |

It strikes me that the nesting period is not the peaceful, out of time experience I'd imagined - to me they look eager to swap, and their calls to their absent mate are plaintive. :) They leave the egg unattended while encouraging the other to return but each time the egg has not been exposed more than a minute. Right blustery weather there today. Frogprince, I've always thought eagles' normal voices sound like rusty hinges. Not all that purty. |
