Some of you will recall waiting for the hatching which never came and how disappointing it was awhile back. WELL...........

Right now we're more excited about an email picture of somebody our niece in California just hatched...

Spaw, I can't spot a reference to the egg in that newletter; is there word out as to when it should be expected to hatch it it's viable? Sure would be great to catch the moment live.

I don't believe I've heard an eagle "tune up" before; eegads, I
sing prettier than she does!

Kewl!! Thanks for the links, Spaw. I wonder if Morgan will remember watching the eggs last time!

And in Maryland there are two swiftly growing eaglet fluffballs to watch. Maybe JudyB will find time to post a link to their webcam.

I just happened to go there this AM about 15 minutes ago and saw the egg during a nesting swap. This is really cool and the cameras are so much better, different angles, etc.

Spaw-

I think you're the one responsible for JudyB's raptor addiction. Someone posted a link here a year or two ago and she nibbled. Now she updates the status of 10 or so nests daily, and is an administrator for the Hancock Wildlife Forum.

It is amazing to watch them grow in 10 weeks or so from fluffball to a fledgling the size of a parent.

Thanks, Spaw. I've spent the last half hour watching and have saved it to my Favorites.

It strikes me that the nesting period is not the peaceful, out of time experience I'd imagined - to me they look eager to swap, and their calls to their absent mate are plaintive. :) They leave the egg unattended while encouraging the other to return but each time the egg has not been exposed more than a minute.

Right blustery weather there today.

Frogprince, I've always thought eagles' normal voices sound like rusty hinges. Not all that purty.

Spaw, doesn't it appear that the dead stump is going over in the not too distant future? I thought at first that it was just the camera that was swaying but looking closely it seems it's only the snag.
