He worked on Brown vs. Board of Education, and was the author of From Slavery to Freedom. The last several days there have been some wonderful interviews replayed, including one from NPR's story corps with his son. Rest in peace, Dr. Franklin. |

Some of the posters on this forum who tend toward a Neo-Confederate viewpoint ( e.g. "The Civil War was about States Rights, not slavery" & such like nonsense ) would profit greatly from a reading of his many excellent works. |

Although I never took a course with him I did have the privilege of meeting with him one on one in his office. He was truly a great American and a wonderful human being. |
