Finally, the talented Spinal Tap & Mighty Wind stars, Christopher Guest, Michael McKean & Harry Shearer, are going on tour as themselves singing the songs they have written over the past thirty years. They were on MSNBC, this evening, and by the looks of it, on several other shows: CLick Here for "Unwigged" and more.

Spaw, I see they have a couple of dates in Ohio...don't you have a b-day coming up?:-)

Yeah, and Karen and I talked about it but frankly we ned the money instead and there are a couple of other folks coming later that might be a lot better show for our dough.

Mind you, I do love those guys..........Its really amazing how good they actuallly are for what is basically a joke. Even better though was the "Mitch and Mickey" duo........Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara are really good and fun to listen to as well.   I know a lot of folks around here hated "A Mighty Wind" but I thought it was some of the Guest Gang's best work.

Plus, we had to start making car payments again today! Haven't had a car payment in 8 years..................

Hey Pat,

What kind of car did you get? I have the same situation. The old minivan finally gave it up after 289K. I find myself needing a car that I can do craft shows out of. No kids at home so that takes a bit of the stress off but jeepers I hate the notion of making payments again after five years.

Mustard's Retreat coming here next week. Thats where my concert dollar is going.

Yikes! We haven't had a car payment in as many years, also. Can't imagine trying to have one, now. Good luck with that and the "budget"...hope you enjoy whichever shows you get to!

Hi Don......We bought a 2008 Kia Spectra 5 SX. Kia has really come on strong and the Spectra rates really high with the mags and the consumers as well. Basically new with 10,000 miles and a 100,000 warranty. Kia has upped the ante on warranty (5 year,60,000 general and 10 year 100,000 drivetrain) and the overall quality has jumped rapidly during the past 4 years. Ours looks just like this.

Its got their sport tuned suspension and the SX has loads of standard feature goodies (heated mirrors, low tire warning, power everything, CD with MP3, security system, blah, blah, blah). We got it for $11,500.

Karen drives a bit over 500 miles a week and we can't afford to have breakdowns.....literally. She no work, we got no money.   Our Diamante ('97) is still fine and very driveable for many more years unless you're beating it every week with 500+ miles.   The Astro is about packed in needs lots of $$$ and time to be anything but a local driver and the mileage is zilch! I didn't want to make car payments but I got worn out with the very real stress of waiting for Karen to call one night with bad news. So we're both pretty excited about it all......or at least as excited as I get anymore about anything!!!(;<))

Edmund's write up with other pix.

The YouTube clip is, sadly, unavailable in the UK...

What a coincidence, as Mighty Wind was televised here in the UK a couple of nights ago. As I found Spinal Tap hilarious, I was looking forward to Mighty Wind. It was absorbing, but I laughed just once during the whole thing! didn't enjoy it nearly as much as ST, which I think is a classic.

I found it just the opposite Sue. But to me, none of them are "belly laugh' movies. Reiner may have been going for more laughs but Guest/Levy movies keep you grinning. Also, Mighty Wind plays more to the American audience.

The best way to see Spinal Tap, I discovered not that long ago, was in a cinema full of other people who'd also seen it before. There was an air of expectation before it started and manic hysterical laughter at certain points during, especially the descending mini-Stonehenge followed by the pixie dance.

It's amazing that The Folksmen are the same three people as the lead members of Spinal Tap - they looked and sounded utterly different. I saw Wind for the first time last week on TV - it was fun, but not as funny or with as much of a plot.

Seeing Spinal Tap that way would be like seeing the Rocky Horror Picture Show...great!

Spaw, my other doc was extolling the virtues of her Kia. I like anything that has your endorsement. Good for you and Karen.

Will, are you sure it's unavailable where you are? Reason I ask is that it could just be some momentary website glitch - I've had things come up flagged as "unavailable" before, when I damn well knew they weren't, so I tried a different computer/browser or logged in again later and it was fine.

I can view the clip here in Ireland (Republic, south coast) and usually what's available here is also accessible to the UK. Have another go at it . . .
