seeking Sean Tyrrell recordings

Hello list, sorry if this off subject, but I heard this singer a few days ago on a Davy Spillane album, and have been unable to track down any of his solo recordings. If anyone out there can point me to a source, I would be most obliged...(Preferably in the UK/Ireland) Oh he sings a song called Starry Night on the Spillane L.P. Replies also welcome offlist to jim@thorny.freeserve.co.uk

Hi, Jim - the only Tyrrell CD I know of is Cry of a Dreamer (click here), on the RYKO label. I think it was Mudcatter Exio from Italy who posted lyrics to a lot of the songs from this album. It's a pretty good album. It's available at Amazon online, but I don't know about UK sources for it.

"The Orchard" has not yet been released in the United States. Sean Tyrrell appeared at The Blarney Star in NYC June 25 and had some copies with him. The disk is put out by LongWalk Music. No address. His first CD "Cry of a Dreamer" is available in the states from Rykodisc USA , Shetland Park, 27 Congress St. , Salem Mass 01970

or Rykodisc Europe 78 Stanley Garden, London W3 7SN UK

He does not seem to tour much in the US (I am assuming you are in the US). If you get a chance to hear him, it is well worth it. He did many of the songs from "The Orchard" at The Blarney Star, and a bunch of nonsense tunes, eg a square falls in love with a triangle who marries a cube instead and produces a trapezoid (i think); a bug marries a centipede and has to deal with 50 cold feet on her back, etc johnm

I went to see Sean perofrm in the Roisin Dubh in Galway on Easter Sunday. Excellent gig as ever.

I noticed they had a Boxed set of CD's on sale which included the two albums mentioned above, a more recent release called Belladonna (about 3 years old now I think) and one or two additional CDs. I didn't buy it as I already have most of the other CDs. I don't have a title for the boxed set, but someone out there may have more information.

I have all three released on his own (I think) label, Longwalk music, that's "Cry Of a Dreamer", "Orchard" and the latest "Belladonna" which doesn't seem to be mentioned above (ore else I missed it).

All are available via Amazon UK, who also list a couple of albums I don't know from another label but appear to be non UK/Ireland released samplers from the other 3.

The singer I want to be when I grow up (he says with tongue planted firmly in his 54-year-old cheek). Wonderful singer. All of his stuff has been covered here, but don't miss "The Walker of the Snow" on Spillane's "Shadow Hunter" CD. Two great instruments on that one: Spillane's pipes and Tyrrell's voice.

Here's Sean's website. Clicky thing
Sean is a Mighty Singer. I agree with you 100% Mick. I have had the honor of Sean recording one of my Songs and the privilege of supplying the Backing Vocals on one of his CDs.
I am working with Him this Summer on his magical Theatrical Piece, The Midnight Court, the poem by Merriman set to Music by Sean. In Galway, Feekle ( Merriman 200 years celebration) and a few other Places. July though September.
Declan I will hopefully be doing a guest spot one of those Sundays in the Roisin Dubh with Sean when I am over this Summer.
I hope we can meet up if your around.
Thanks Kat:>), nice to see PJ posting all be it a while ago:>)
Love and Light to all
Jude

Dear Jim,

I can also recommend "Songs of Peace" which is a compilation of works by poet and 1st world war soldier Francis Ledwith. This has a couple of songs by Sean and he plays also on it.

Peace
