Sad news, really. She taught a lot of people a lot of things.

Wow,,, in my home town of Wichita, KS., there was a major flap over a theater that decided to show her first big hit, "Behind the Green Door". Police were called, judges pontificated, citizens were offended...or amused...or excited. I think the theater was eventually fined and enjoined from showing it. I didn't get to see it till video tape 10 years later.

It was....interesting. The cinematography was as interesting as the ummm.. subject matter. As a relatively young man, I found it both 'interesting' and not my cup of tea. Some of the scenes were just too strange to be titillating. Marilyn was an intense and charismatic person... cute & girlish one minute & wildly exhibitionistic the next. She made you believe SHE was into the fun & games, whether you were or not.

(remember, Marilyn was on the Ivory Soap box just before she got infamous...those boxes were pulled from grocery stores and are now collectors items.)

Hmmm. For clarity, I was going to change the title to Obit: p*rn Star Marilyn Chambers; but then I figured the word p*rn in a thread title, might bring us unwelcome visitors.

Adult film star Marilyn Chambers dies at 56

The MSNBC obit gives a somewhat more "in depth" review of her career.

Marilyn and Sylvia Kristel played a significant part of a short period in my early 20's............If there's a heaven I can tell you that St. Peter(so to speak) is smiling.

You were significantly short?

I am sure Peter rose to the occasion.

Not where it mattered unlike yourself.......

And the Lord said to Marilyn, "Sit upon my throne."

I swear to this day, that one of the guys in the movie "Behind The Green Door" was either Tony Danza or his twin brother!

She was a unique individual, R.I.P.!
