13 Apr 09 - 07:22 PM (#2610551) Subject: Obit: David Johnson From: Jack Campin David Johnson (author of "Music and Society in 18th Century Scotland" and "Scottish Fiddle Music of the 18th Century", editor of some of the volumes of "Musica Scotica", cellist and composer) died suddenly at his home in Edinburgh a few days ago, a few weeks short of his 67th birthday. The funeral is at 12pm on Tuesday April 21st, at Warriston Crematorium, Edinburgh. I'll miss him. |

One can disagree with him here and there but there is no doubt of his massive contribution to the study of Scottish music. I can't believe he accomplished so musch in a comparatively short time. What else might he have produced? Condolences to his family. |

Folowing a visit to us in London he completed his "Twelve Preludes and Fugues for Piano" - released by Zephyr, played by Ian Hobson. A fascinating and amusing work; the 10th fugue based on a train journey from us into London. He was an amazing musician and will be missed by all his many relations. |
