From: AllisonA(Animaterra) My 20-year old daughter was so excited when this was advertised a few months ago pending release, and I ordered it for her Feb. birthday. It arrived last week, and she was thrilled- but I haven't heard how she felt about it. Jane Austen, esp. "Pride and Prejudice" are "in" at the moment to a degree that must astonish us old jaded English majors and lit lovers- she's cool, she's hip, the college-and-beyond hipsters are crazy about her! This is just an inevitable next step. Kind of like electric guitars at a contra dance, I guess. |

Zombies and vampires and their ilk are acquired tastes. I enjoyed Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus, though, and there are aspects of that text that, passed over Jane Austen, might lead to a similar outcome. SRS |
