Is Girvan up by Edinburgh, just along on the coast, or am I getting confused.

Market Rasen in Lincolnshire, much too far away for me, unfortunately.

When I lived in Grangemouth, I used to go to Gullane quite often. I thought it was very quaint.

I'm glad we've established where Girvan is at any rate; I'd love to come but I have an unbreakable prior engagement at my mother's 80th birthday party that weekend.

Good luck to you Kathy; I tried to look up the lyrics to your Willie Scott song Boys O Boys but Google asked me instead if I meant to search for "boys on boys" and offered me some extremely interesting websites to look at!

It seems a long time since Rod Stradling reviewed Kathy's songs on the Kyloe CD Borderers and expressed the hope that there might be more to come. I sincerely hope so. Enjoy the festival!

Thank you for your kind words Matthew. I finally got to meet Rod at Whitby last year

Boys o' Boys

I hae been a servant lass this eighteen year an' ten
An' hae spent all of me time up in Strathduie Glen
But noo I'm givin' it over an' I'll lift ma six months pay
An' I'm bound tae say he'll bless the day
The man that'll marry me

Chorus: Boys o Boys o won't you tak a wife
I'm shaire ye canna be happy leadin a single life
Boys o boys get marrit while yer young
An if its a tidy wee wife ye want
       Then I'm the verra one

I will keep his hoose baith neat an clean an everything complete
An I will never give him cause tae ask his bargin back
Instead I'll gie him a bowl o brose an coax him up wi tea
An I'm bound tae say he'll bless the day
The man that'll marry me

I will send his children out tae school I'm shaire there will be two
Ain ca'd for its mither and the ither yin ca'd for you
An if good fortune smiles on me I'm shaire there will be three
An I'm bound tae say he'll bless the day
The man that'll marry me

Noo John leave off your gamblin an John leave off your frowns
An when the term day comes round ye'll post me down yir crowns
But if ever ye lift yir hand John or use yir fit tae me
I'm bound tae say ye'll rue the day
That ever ye marrit me!

The bould Tim Lyons is performing there this year - I know because it meant he had to turn down a gig I was lining him up for! If you haven't heard him before, make a point of it - a fine singer.

Regards

It was a mighty weekend. Great to catch up with old pals and make new ones. The singing was subline, first time I've heard Timm Lyons and he was wonderful. Lionel Mclelland a pal of many years singng up a storm, Maire Chiffmine the storyteller who is a fine singer too. Colin Macalister in fine fettle. Brian Peters who was superb...go see his Child Ballads presentation. The mego star of Trunch...Sid Kipper I laughed so much I was sore. Only got to a couple of sessions but they were grand

And......it was my very first guest booking at a festival........

I hope so too....it was fine once I got over the nerves, which were chronic

I had a rare time and sung myself nearly hoarse, I sounded like Lily Savage on Sunday morning but thats cos I insisted in singing bass
in the late session which was an eclectic mix of songs and tunes, was dying to sing Jesus on the mainline but couldnt remember the words.... well it was about 2ish am....

Hope your ma had a good birthday party
