I'm looking forward to it. We have a new CD of past Woody Guthrie Birthday Bashes called Open Your Hearts to the Paradise. It sounds great, and many of the past participants that are on the CD are in the show again this year. Plus, great to have Oscar Brand with us this year!

It's Pete Seeger's birthday, and there's a Birthday Bash for him at Madison Square Garden. I'd go but it's sold out.

I checked for tickets today, and there were some available at ticketmaster, so it wasn't sold out (the cheap seats were sold out). I'm sure it's being filmed and eventually you'll be able to see the performances...

but anyway, I hope y'all can come down to the Woody fest on July 12th. It's a nice intimate venue and Oscar says he roomed with Woody, so I'm sure he'll have some interesting stories to tell.

Yes, Oscar loves to talk about the old days, and he has lots of memories to share.

Here's a link to the annual Woody Guthrie Folk Festival, held in his hometown, Okemah, Oklahoma.

Hello to everyone who has attended any of the previous Guthrie concerts! There's two additions to the regular crew. You all know Oscar. Many of you may also already know the talented and accomplished Robin Greenstein. I would like to welcome her to this group. This will be a terrific evening. Come and join us!

Robin also added some great banjo parts on my CD A Few More Miles to Go.

And I have another new CD just released, Very Early Anne, recorded live when I was in college in 1965-66.

This year's Guthrie Birthday Bash should be the best one yet.

And thanks to Bob Sherman, who plans to play the new CD, Open Your Hearts to the Paradise, on his WFDU radio show, "Woody's Children" just hours before the show.

Once again, we are preparing a musical birthday tribute to Woody Guthrie, including an impressive assortment of singers and instruments. Come to the Bowery Poetry Club for an enjoyable evening of song on the evening of July 12 and be prepared to sing along and have fun!

One small correction: Bob Sherman and his program Woody's Children are on Radio Station WFUV FM 90.7. Maybe Anne was thinking of our own Mudcatter Ron Olesko? His Traditions program is on WFDU FM 89.1. Then there is Oscar Brand, who will be in the show this year. His Folk Song Festival can be heard on WNYC AM 820.

I believe Anne has been on all their programs.

Whoops. Got WFUV mixed up with WFDU. Guess, I was thinking of Ron Olesko's show. WFUV is broadcast from Fordham University. WFDU is from Fairleigh Dickenson. They're both great radio shows, and so is Oscar Brand's. Oscar's show has been on for something like 40 years. Amazing. And yes, I have had the pleasure of being on all three programs.

Greetings again:

Oscar Brand's Folk Song Festival has been on the air since 1949. It will celebrate its 60th anniversary this December. Oscar will celebrate his own 90th birthday this coming February.

So I was right; Anne Price has appeared on all three radio programs. Are there any 'Catters out there who can match that claim? And I'm talking about live performances, not canned music.

Whether or not you've been on the radio you can enjoy singing at the Woody Guthrie Birthday Bash. I hear there will be lots of songs with choruses you will know and some new ones you can easily pick up. Hope to see you July 12th. If you're a Mudcatter please say hello!

Great to hear that the new Woody Birthday Bash CD will be played on the radio as we are getting going in the Village!

I'm daring myself to do a Woody song that is more talk than song. I looked for information about Mean Talkin' Blues on the internet. More than info about the song's history - which is what I was looking for - I found lots of people in love with this little known Woody tune and its "take no prisoners" attitude.

See for yourself at
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&channel=s&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=vvh&q=mean+talkin%27+blues+woody&aq=f&oq=&aqi=

I like it because it is entertaining and I get to be MEAN!
