Seeking the Cyril Tawney Songbook. A Table of Contents would help too. Espesially looking for "The Oggie Man" to arrange for 3 parts.

About £25.00 - £35.00 if you find one.

Unfortunately, that's on AbeBooks. I've had problems on AbeBooks, the dealer said "Oops! Sorry, book is sold", then contacts me personally and magically found another copy.

That's the case of a dealer trying to cheat AbeBooks out of it's commission; they're not all that way - Tom

interesting did anyone ask Cyril or Rosemarys Permission, for the song to be included on the digitrad.
If you want the book why not contact Rosemary Tawney, via Cyrils website.,GOOGLE Cyril Tawney
Noreen,do you not think Rosemary has a right to benefit financially from Cyrils work.

Captain, if you had been to Cyril's website you would know that the songbook is no longer in print therefore making money for Rosemary is not an issue.

Also, if you had known Cyril you would know he was very happy for anyone to have access to his songs and to sing them- with attribution, of course.

I had that book, and awkward it was, too, due to it's dimensions.
Lent it to someone and never got it back.

A kind man photocopied it for me. Here is the table of contents:

Introduction
Cheering of the Queen
Chicken on a Raft
Sally Free and Easy
Six Feet of Mud
Five-Foot Flirt
The Bitter Sweet Bed
The Ballad of Sammy's Bar
The Grey Funnel Line
Stanley the Rat
Three Men of Eddystone
The Oggy Man
Nobby Hall
Monday Morning
In the Sidings
Plymouth Lament
Diesel and Shale
The Lean and Unwashed Tiffy
Vanity
The Suit of Grey

The juxtaposition of "Six Feet of Mud" & "Five-Foot Flirt" is perhaps not an accident.

I can supply words and notation for most of Cyril's songs and am happy to answer queries. Digitrad provides a great service, but even that isn't infallible or complete. Of course, there ar several CDs available, too (Am I allowed to say this?)

Live at Holsteins
NauticalTawney
Navy Cuts
The Song Goes On (2 CDs)

and not a bad one among 'em

I have been desperately searching for the lyrics to Bitter-Sweet Bed, if anyone can help me, please? There's one line I can't hear clearly on the CD, and I'd love to sing this at a regular folk session I go to. Many thanks.
