He's appearing with his wife, Melissa McClelland.

May 17th LUKE DOUCET & MELISSA McCLELLAND      £9dv/£10

Luke Doucet is a Canadian singer-songwriter and guitarist. Born in Nova Scotia but raised in Manitoba, Doucet played in bands throughout high school but by the age of 19 had moved to Vancouver to join Sarah McLachlan's band. His debut solo album in 2001 Aloha, Manitoba had a mellower, more folk-influenced sound and in 2006 Doucet was nominated for a Juno Award for his second album, Broken (And Other Rogue States). In 2007 he moved to Nashville for six months to write and produce. After the release of his third album Luke toured Europe with legendary Canadian country rock band Blue Rodeo. By this time he had met and married Melissa McClelland. Born in Chicago but raised in Ontario she's a singer-songwriter who had also worked previously with Sarah McLachlan. Melissa has recently completed her fourth album 'Victoria Day' which will be released to coincide with their UK tour.

A fabulous night with Luke and Melissa...not often you get a cranked-up Gretsch White Falcon, champagne, designer birthday cake, light explosives, snogging on stage....in a "folk club".

Plus a debut of a love song Luke had written as a present for Melissa's 30th birthday (today). I think several brownie points were won...

Not only that....the biggest turn-out we've had since Vin Garbutt in early January (though the average age last night was a decade or two younger than for Vin)
