Concert in Averill Park, NY

I know there are some Mudcatters within driving distance of this event - and some who might have an interest in attending. I am playing a concert this weekend in Averill Park with fiddler, Allen Brenner.

The details are here and we are planning to do a mix of Civil War music, old and new - plus some fiddle and folk from more recent days.

Allen is a truly fine player and I am really looking forward to the show. We will be participating in the afternoon's music events in addition to the evening's concert (details noted on the link above).

I hope to see a few Mudcatters there! Please also help us out by passing the word on to friends you know who may have an interest.

Thanks - Jed Marum

Hi Jed,
Averill Park is not really in the Catskills. It is actually due east of Albany in the Taconic Mountains. The Catskills are located on the west bank of the Hudson River. Averill Park is a few miles inland on the east side of the Hudson.

If you are not doing anything on Sunday you can stop by The Borderline at 2 PM on your way back to the airport and catch a good Bluegrass concert with Danny Paisley & The Southern Grass. Your old friends for whom you performed 2 years ago will be glad to see you.

Regards
SOL

OOops - so I've mistitled the thread!

I am doing a recording session on Sunday so I will not be able to make it to the concert. I wish I could. Please give the folks there my best regards.

All the best - Jed

I'm the organizer of the Concert series that will be hosting Jed Marum and Allen Brenner on Sat., May 30. I heard them play together at the Civil War Music Encampment at Windham, NY and was so imprssed that I immediately invited them to come to the Sand Lake Center for the Arts as part of our Squire Jacob Coffeehouse Concert Series. They agreed and that led to thoughts of planning an afternoon long event relating to what was happening on the homefront during the Civil War. From noon to 7pm we'll be having three hour long concerts, a period dance, Abe Lincoln, his wife, and bodyguard, lots of demonstrations and people in period cloting, all begining with a flag raising ceremony complete wiht honor guard. Full information can be found at slca-ctp.org and we'd love to have a huge turnout. Of course, we hope everyone will also join us for what I'm sure will be an excellent conert at 8:00! 518-674-2007 for reservations.
