In case anybody is in the area, I thought I would start this thread.

The Gardeners Fair at Market Rasen in Lincolnshire (Approx 18 miles north of Lincoln), will have live music on from 10am to 4pm each day.

http://www.mrdt.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=39&Itemid=64

Its all free.

The music will be an open air situation and will be on the Festival Hall car park. Don't believe what the website says, the artists listed below are the ones that are appearing.

Appearing on Saturday May 30th

Abi Moore
Wild Wold Women
Cara
Rupert Henry and The Revolvers

Appearing on Sunday May 31st

Dick Appleton
Ploughmens Bunch
Richard Langridge & Kathryn O'Connor
Jet Skiffle and Blues

Paul Young will be Busking around Market Rasen over the 2 days.

There will be lots of stalls etc, so if you are at a loose end, do pop in and say hello to Market Rasen (that famous place that was the epicentre of the earthquake last year, and Satyrday's All right For Fighting written by Bernie Taupin and sun by by Elton John about the fihts that used to to go on at Market Rasen :-) )

Cheers
Les Worrall

Cheers for starting this thread, Villan. The website IS out of date, re the music! If you speak to your sound-technician will you let them know that Abi has kindly agreed to let me use her piano. It is the same type as mine and we thought it seemed silly to keep swapping, particularly as we are following each other on the programme.
Looking forward to hearing Abi, Cara and Rupert and Henry and playing with WWW...I do not have green fingers, just piano-addicted ones, so will be listening to the music but it sounds like there is plenty for those who are talented/armchair gardeners, too!

Tell me about it :-) Good job it isn't my website.

Already done this morning Rockhen :-)

Lets hope the weather forecasters have it right and we get 2 days of glorious weather as predicted.

There will be one car park space for each act, next to the music stand. All other cars will need to be parked elsewhere in Market Rasen, but they will be allowed to drop their equipment at the stand first before parking elsewhere. Lady Francis Drive and The Furlongs are only a couple of minutes walk away from the Festival Hall car park and should be easy to park in.

Blimey just re-read my first post. :-(

It should have read

Errrrmmm, forgive the pedantry, Les, but wasn't it "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting"?

My one and only claim to fame is that I saw BT (or his Doppelganger) with a very attractive lady in the Aston Arms one alcoholic evening sometime around 1971 or 2 or 3-ish (my alcohol-consumption in those days made the years all blur into one!. :-) :-)

Quite correct John, thanks. Write 100 lines "I must edit my posts before I hit the Submit button" :-)

Here is the link to the evidence http://www.onthisveryspot.com/find/spot.php?spot_web_name=Aston_Arms_Pub Doesn't mention you though John :-)

I was incognito, to avoid being mobbed by my fans. :-)

Rasun, is the inbred way of saying it :-)

Oaklet didn't have his long johns on, so his whelks were there for all to see. :-)

Glad the technical problems were sorted enough for Cara and Rupert and Henry to play. I was really disappointed not to get chance to play and I know Abi was, too. Hope the 2nd day went more smoothly. At least the sun shone!

Not sure what the exact technical issue was, but it had nothing to do with the PA side but with the power feed from the source supply. Anyway, the other issue of earthing was sorted and we didn't have any problems at all after that.
Anyway, Rupert Henry and the Revolvers decided to stay and did a 40/45 minute spot.
Likewise Cara remained and did a 60 minute spot.
That was very much appreciated, as we were able to ensure that things would be alright for the Sunday.
The remaining hour was filled by music from some of the sound engineers (John Foreman) CD's, he brought along.

Sunday went like a dream and we had a full days music from Dick Appleton, Ploughmans Bunch, Richard Langridge and Jet Skiffle and Blues.

John Foreman and his mate Garry, did a really good job of the PA side, so a big thanks to them.

Les, I did not know what the technical problem was either. All I know is that non of us were able to play as planned because of some problem with the power and concerns re safety. I am glad the others were able to stay. I stayed most of the day, myself, as you know, and kept coming to check if there was any news from you as to what was happening. As you know, Abi and the others in WWW stayed for well over 2 hours after we were all supposed to play and I felt they were perfectly reasonable to leave after waiting all that time. I don't think you think they were unreasonable or unprofessional either but your post suggested that you perhaps thought they were. I am sure that is just the way it was worded and is perhaps me misinterpreting how you meant it. It was great to meet the Cara nutcases again and Rupert and Henry crowd.
Perhaps we should continue any other conversation in PMs if you feel a need to, because I feel that the event was a great idea and the problems for the first half of Saturday were obviously overcome for the rest of the event. Congratulations to you for organising the music as it is no easy task. I was pleased to be asked but disappointed not to play.

Helen, there was never a problem about acts leaving, so no comeback there.

Cara and Rupert Henry and The Revolvers were still around when the problems were sorted.

There was no pressure on them to go on stage. They kindly decided they would do it. They could have gone.

I know you had stayed all the time so no problem.
