I've waited patiently all spring to see it bud and leaf out, but it hasn't happened. Apparently, it didn't survive the move. My cup runneth over....with crap. Damn. |

I was presented with a tree which was planted at my Aunt's place in the country. The tree didn't survive it's first winter. However, I have remembered 'winning' that tree since I was 9 years old. Y'ain't forgot Utah, Kendall. Go plant another tree. Bruce |

Next spring and summer and fall, it was a black sprig. Looked rotten. He refused to take it out. The following spring, it refused to give up. Today, that rotten sprig is 25 feet tall and just as wide and covered in snow white apple blossums. And it houses the Hummingbirds that Mum adores. I dunno much about trees, but I know a bit about love and hope. If it really didn't survive, that's okay, but I would plant Maeve's tree next to it. I wouldn't take it down, that's up to someone else. |

They were planted by my ex's grandmother. They did not bloom until the spring following her passing. They never did again after that as far as I know. |

Years back I found a tiny, tiny elm seedling when I was cutting the grass. I dug it up and replanted it. Not having any water handy I spit in the hole. Last time I saw it it was about 30 feet tall. Ain't nothin' like a tree to memorialize. I hate those new cemeteries with flat, ground-levels grave markers and no trees. |

They are not expensive, 100 dollar or so a year. But at graduation a student is picked out by the music dept that best fits the legacy of utah. At graduation his bio is read to the whole crowd and an explanation of what the scholarship is about. It keeps Utah's memory not only alive with us but with each new generation of high school graduates. I did this for my grandfather. Each year everyone hears his story and knows what the scholarship is about. It is a great way of keeping his memory alive and out there with everyone that graduates at the High school. I am in if anyone wants to do this. Also the kid that gets the award will always remember that he got a scholarship because of this great man. In my high school here in town there are lots of these and although the award is not large .. the thought and the gratitude from the people who get is is remarkable. Dan |

He said every year you hear speeches about how the students are like natural resources. Then he warns them about what happens when resources are used and abused. |

He tells - told - it as if it happened in Spokane WA, 3 hours from here, where he lived at the time. I can just see it. |
