Bit of respect here Tim. Doug is a gentleman, not a dude.

Hmmm I am terribly sorry old chap.
I was merely asking Young DC what kind of waves he has experienced today, in his capacity as Lincolnshire's NO1 Surfboarding Banjolale exponent.
If you feel the need to inquire his daily preferment as to the disposition of his dangly bits.
Please do so but feel free not to include me.

Mike - I will give you the tickets in the session for the evening. Same with Tim & Jen. No ticket, no getting in:-)

I think that Geoff is having another operation around June 12th or something like that, so I would not really expect to see them on the 20th. It would be nice if he was well enough. However, I think it will take a lot to stop him coming to Tanglefoot on June 27th. :-)

"Will Mrs Backwoodsman be coming along as well, or are you having a rest from the family life?"

Not sure whether the chain from her right ankle to the kitchen sink is long enough Les. If she gets all the housework done, my shirts ironed, gets the garden dug and the grass cut, and the car washed and polished, I might undo the spadlock and let her come with me. Otherwise she stays at home and gets it all finished, the lazy bugger. :-)

This multi-tasking thing is a bit much I reckon!!!... Having said that. At the moment I am breathing/sitting down/reading/typing/drinking Cranberry and Raspberry/listening to Kate Rusby/ and feeling the warmth of the day. That surely must count as multi-tasking eh????

Hmmmm!
Which instrument requires the most multi-tasking to play it well? And I AM speaking musically before some of you smuttier mudcatters get confused!
I once played, harmonica, piano accordion, saxophone and piano in the same song...I did it on a recording but yes, also at a live gig...There's a challenge...can anyone beat that?...er I didn't say I played them well...and it was more of a juggle than a playing them at the same time :-)
I think I will be coming to the session on my own, yes, Villan, Neil will be halfway up a mountain in the Lakes and I would prefer to be sitting down playing music, somewhere warm and dry than up a mountain on a mountain bike!

based on the response, may I suggest the following.

Make sure you have enough for yourself and bring something extra that could be shared by others.

As I said, I will bring pork pies.

There will be tea and coffee available for the session as well as the bar being open.

Right, who else is going to bring something to be shared and what will that be?

Its Black Pudding in Birmingham Tim and there are more Brummies than Grimsbyites.

I think Blood pudding is a nicer name and truer descriptively.

Politically correct problem Tim

Maybe it should be called Zebra Crossing Pudding

You may think that, Tim, but it doesn't stop them being being black puddings. The best ones, of course, come from Bury.

By god Doug youm aint far wrong

In England, the Midlands and the North are the great areas of black pudding appreciation; Bury in Lancashire is often claimed as the black pudding capital. But black puddings form an essential part of the basic peasant cuisine of many other European countries...Elsewhere in Europe a black pudding is a blutwurst (Germany) or a kashanka (Poland)."

That must make me a peasant then.

I fear that once they start being allowed to play at any time and even use the bar in the club house, the blood sausage will not be long in following.
It is up to us chaps to encourage seemly behavior in our wives and chattels.

I had a thought.......
Maybe after the proper session when we withdraw for cigars
We could leave the instruments in the hall and maybe let the ladies
amuse themselves by attempting a few simple tunes or songs?
or
Maybe they should just clean the instruments and prepare the hall
for the evening session.

(Luckily my bits are specially trained to withdraw when there is any threat of physical contact with heavy things like cellos etc)

After a long trip to Liverpool and back yesterday, we're too knackered to do the session this afternoon. Hope you manage to have a good day even without us.

Just Surfaced

Thanks everybody for making yesterday so enjoyable.

Excellent turnout for the session and what was so nice about it, was that everyone got a chance to lead in a tune or song.

As part of the 60 plus audience, I thoroughly enjoyed the evening with such a wide variety of music and humour. They did us proud. Thank you so much to Gwenda & Terry Cater, Bob Cleveland & John Baker, Rebekah Findlay, Karen & Colin Thompson, John Blanks, Dave & Julie Evardson.

Lots of food and it all got eaten.

All say "I" who wants a similar event next year?

Sorry you couldn't make it Mick & Rhiannon.

Cheers
Les

You'll have to be quicker if you want apple pie. There was one piece left right up to the end but, it looked so lonely, I ate it.

So you were the guilty party then Doug. Glad you enjoyed the day. It was a long old day, but well worth it.
The most likely date for next year will be June 12th 2010, so put it in your diary.
