10 Jul 99 - 12:07 PM (#93933) Subject: RE: Talkin' Candy Bar Blues From: Joe Offer Hi, Dan - I'm quite certain TALKIN' CANDY BAR BLUES was written by Noel Paul Stookey of Peter, Paul and Mary. There is just a bit of doubt in my mind because Peter, Paul & Mary claimed copyrights on so many traditional songs - it does raise a question about which songs they actually did write. Same could be said for Bob Dylan. This one, though, certainly is not a traditional set of lyrics. The "talkin' blues" is a style that has been used by many singers, including Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie. If you do a Forum Search (click) for talkin, you'll find lots of information about other songs in this genre. -Joe Offer- |

I can't quite picture it, although I'd like to hear it if it exists. You'll find at the Book of Bob (click) that Dylan did a number of talkin' blues songs - go to T and you'll see a bunch, but nothing about candy bars that I could find. -Joe Offer- |
