23 Jun 09 - 07:54 PM (#2663160) Subject: RE: Tanglefoot @ Faldingworth Sat June 27th From: SharonA I saw and heard them in May when they performed in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. Chatted them up a bit afterward and asked why they were hanging it up. Seems that each member has new projects of his or her own in the works, and they want to concentrate their efforts and energies on that. Two members, Terry Young and Sandra Swannell, have formed a duo called "My Sweet Patootie" (swing-oriented music) and they will be touring with their own band in future. Best of luck to all of the artists soon to be formerly known as Tanglefoot! We'll miss the music. The songs on CD just aren't the same without the high-energy stage act. :-( |

26 Jun 09 - 05:08 PM (#2665506) Subject: RE: Tanglefoot @ Faldingworth Sat June 27th From: Rasener Fran Faldingworth only has a pub, and I am not sure if it is serving food before. Plus it isn't cheap. Faldingworth is only a small village - 300 inhabitants. Your best bet, if you are going to get here fairly early, is to carry on 4 miles into Market Rasen, where there are fish and chip shops etc and Supermarket Tesco and Co-Op. It would take you 10 minutes from Faldingworth as the roads are windy and slow. Map http://www.multimap.com/directions/?qs_1=LN8+3SE&countryCode_1=GB&qs_2=Market+Rasen&countryCode_2=GB&mode=driving&optimizeFor=ti Or the other idea, is to come off the A46 north of Lincoln roundabout and there is a Kentucky Fried Chicken & Pizza Hut 300 yards. Waitrose is opposite. From there to Faldingworth is about 12 miles and would take 20 minutes. 29 Jun 09 - 03:12 AM (#2666884) Subject: RE: Tanglefoot @ Faldingworth Sat June 27th From: SharonA Les, I'm so glad you posted the pictures. What a nice hall. Looks like a fine time was had by all. I'm surprised to see that Robert Graham was at the keyboard; I guess that Rob Ritchie is not touring the UK with the band? It's interesting to see how the band adapts to each stage setup. You have quite a different venue from the one where I saw Tanglefoot in the US! Here they played at a coffeehouse where the stage is in the middle of the shop; the stage faces the coffee counter, with very little in the way of audience seating between counter and stage, and most of the seating is to the left and to the right of the stage so that most folks view the band at a 45-degree to 90-degree angle. No neat rows of seats as in your photos; the coffeehouse is a jumble of chairs, tables and a sofa, and some of the seating at the rear is as high as the stage. Of course there were people everywhere that night and it was difficult to move around the room. As you can imagine, all of this presents difficulties for the sound engineer when dealing with most acts (in trying to have them heard by the whole room)... but not with Tanglefoot! Their only difficulty was that there wasn't enough room on stage for the keyboard; Rob Ritchie had to sit at audience level off-stage to the band's left. Anyway, good work in putting on all those shows, and best of luck to you and your venue in future. Sharon |
29 Jun 09 - 03:24 AM (#2666887) Subject: RE: Tanglefoot @ Faldingworth Sat June 27th From: Rasener Thanks Sharon. Blimey, the place you tell us of, must have made it pretty difficult for them, but you wouldn't have had a problem hearing them :-) We are fortunate that we have a portable stage that can be quickly built to suit the number of people performing at one time. We normally set the stage up as 4 meters wide by 3 metres deep. However for Tanglefoot we did 6 metres wide by 2 metres deep. Its great having the stage as everybody can see the performers. Les |
29 Jun 09 - 04:24 AM (#2666911) Subject: RE: Tanglefoot @ Faldingworth Sat June 27th From: Fran I think Steve Ritchie said that Rob did not want to leave his children for the UK tour so we have the delightful Robert Graham instead. I also got to hear a bit of his new album "Storm in a Teacup" and it sounds great. |
29 Jun 09 - 04:28 AM (#2666914) Subject: RE: Tanglefoot @ Faldingworth Sat June 27th From: Travelling Audience Yes......Fantastic night, only sorry we won't be seeing them again as a group...but never say never!! |
29 Jun 09 - 05:14 AM (#2666927) Subject: RE: Tanglefoot @ Faldingworth Sat June 27th From: Rasener TA it is a shame. They are such nice people as well as being a brillaint act. As you say, you can never say never and they might just get itchy feet and a yearning to come back to the UK. What I did like, is that you could clearly see that they were enjoying performing as much as we enjoyed listening to them. Got thsi e-mail from Steve Thanks so much, Les, and thanks for the pictures. Great memories indeed. We had a great time - one of the highlights. See you again, I'm sure. Steve It was nice to meet Fran, who I think enjoyed it and she behaved herself :-) LOL Reflecting back on the night, there were a few nice touches, like the way they did the raffle with Gwenda Cater - The way they try to sell their CD's etc (Always funny) - The way they had everybody standing at the end and jigging about. All good stuff. |
