Maggie and I are holding a meet and greet session in Hodgsons on Friday (7pm start) and a survivors' session there on Sunday night. There will be stuff in the Sun all weekend, and there's plenty of other sessions (Shanty, Musicians, Singers). Details are in the Festival programme.

Teggie had mentioned an additional bijou sessionette (possibly in Oddies) so Maggie and I will see if we can fix one up.

See you in the Sun, Jim (Sunny Jim?)

Les

I should be over Satuday afternoon so will no doubt fall over a few people then. Presume there will be a session in the Tiger in the afternoon and singing in the Sun?

Yes, the Saturday musician's session in the Tiger usually has plenty of excellent toons, and if Teg's idea coems off, it may be the starting point for a clandestine further sesh, somewhere else (plans hatched furtively at the Welli last Monday!!)
Ah, dontcha just love being a secret agent?
See you (and others) there, Teg, on Sat. lunch

So, did everybody have fun then? Sorry I missed your survivors session Les and Maggie, I did come along and poke my head round the door, but it was absolutely packed! Great stuff. Nice tunes outside the Tiger on Sunday afternoon too - just what my hangover called for (-:

Sorry folks my cunning plan of coming over on Saturday on the 10.40 train from Sheffield was scuppered by the fact I didn't wake up till 11.40am oops. Hope you all had a good time.

Yes - we had a great time, both the meet and greet and the survivors' session were very well attended with lots of quality singers and players. Thanks to all who came.

We also did the 'fringe of the fringe' with excellent additional sessions in Monks' Walk and Oddfellows. Didn't miss Jim at all! Well, not much!

Ah, I was wondering why we hadn't seen you Jim. I thought I'd just been looking in the wrong places! (-: We did miss you, but as Les says, it was a top quality weekend. Well done to everybody!

No, it's playing live - records are circular flat things. Well done Rog!

And big thanks to Roy Wild (Wildboy) and Mick McGarry (Ossonflags) for organising this year's Fringe events.

My missus had that Jeni and Billy in the shop on Sunday and they reckoned that they would be at The tiger on Friday of this week (I gather that they were playing Barnsley yesterday) - so, if you missed them at the Americana concert during the festival or at Barnsley ..........

Plenty of downloadable snippets on their website too.

the highlight of the festival for me, was hearing Christine Clifford singing and playing bodhran in the The Sun on friday and saturday night.

Did anyone leave a Fender mandolin in the Sun? Not this weekend but about 3 or 4 weeks ago - the landlady was asking me yesterday if I knew who it belongs to.

btw: She reckons that this festival weekend was quieter for them than it has been for a couple of years. Personally I thought that there were less people about overall.

I thought it was much quieter in the places I went to on Saturday between about midday and 5pm. The weather probably didn't help.

The Sun was quieter though I'm not sure that was a bad thing if you were trying to sing as you could at least be heard. The Tiger was definitely quieter - when I went there was a small session in the back room with perhaps 10 people there and absolutely noone in the big fromt room - last year it was full of people. Oddfellows I have only previously been in in the evening.

I didn't get as far as Hodgsons because of the rain or try anywhere else
