25 Jun 09 - 09:35 PM (#2664927) Subject: RE: BS: any new birth announcements? From: Jeri I have baby birds. Well, not personally. I didn't lay the eggs or anything. I don't think I have any left, but they wouldn't be that sort. I figure they'd be more of a soft-shelled variety. Anyway, there's a tree and I hear the mouthy little bird-brats demanding food every so often. I also startled an American Catbird in my raspberries. Have you ever had a catbird in your raspberries? It flew out and I left the area alone. Mostly. I grabbed a couple berries before I walked on. I figure there was nest building in progress. Maybe egg laying, but their babies hatch a bit later in the summer, so the eggs may not have been laid yet. Or maybe even the birds... not that they get laid. They get 'fluttered' or 'surprised' or... I don't know, but it's usually not horizontal. Anyway, birds are reproducing. The bees aren't doing so well. |

26 Jun 09 - 03:46 AM (#2665054) Subject: RE: BS: any new birth announcements? From: Liz the Squeak I haven't had any myself, but the cat two doors down has had kittens. She had them in a corner of the garden and was trying to protect them by hiding them under the decking by the fence. The owner had managed to disentagle 2 and move them (with mums' approval) to a safer spot in the shed, but two were firmly caught... so I was called upon to come and help. Anyway, I had a wonderful 15 mins coaxing and tweezing the remaining 2 kittens, probably only about 12 hours old, out from under the decking and into the waiting hands of the owner. They were so tiny, hardly bigger than mice (the mother cat is small herself) and so soft and delicate - they were a beautiful tabby/ginger/white mix and are going to be the prettiest little things when they're older... That cheered you up? LTS |

From: Catherine Jayne No new birth announcements from us either but I found out the other week my best friend is expecting twins in December. We knew she was pregnant but the scan showed up a double blessing for her like it did for us last year. |

26 Jun 09 - 04:26 AM (#2665069) Subject: RE: BS: any new birth announcements? From: Sandra in Sydney well, today one of my friends showed us pics of her first grandchild - little cutie was born prematurely so has a tube in his nose but will be out of hospital soonish. Mother, father, child, grandparents doing well, except grandfather is a tad peeved that boy will not have his name! Wise grandmother says next child can have that name. sandra |

26 Jun 09 - 07:24 PM (#2665600) Subject: RE: BS: any new birth announcements? From: jacqui.c Not a birth, but good news from my daughter today. She sent me my grandson's school report and he is doing really well. On virtually all subjects he is working above National Expectations for his age, with mostly As and just a couple of Bs for every subject. Lewis was very ill for a while earlier this year and it is comforting to see that he has still been able to maintain a good level at school. |

From: Sandra in Sydney As this is the Good News Thread, & jacqui has mentioned her grandson, I'll mention freda's granddaughter. Four & a half year old Rosie attended her first singing session recently & loved it! One of the singers recalled attending his first session when he was 2, but doesn't remember what he heard, so gave us the song he first heard at a session when he was 4. Another friend's 5 year old granddaughter will be at the folk club tonight to hear her grandmother sing. |

27 Jun 09 - 07:08 PM (#2666159) Subject: RE: BS: any new birth announcements? From: katlaughing Is a sort of rebirth okay? Went to the ER, yesterday, because my pulse was too high and I couldn't get it down. I wasn't scared or too worried, my pulse ox and BP were fine. It wound up being a leftover from the chemical imbalances I've had since the pneumonia, an atrial fibrillation which they treated with medicine, then |
