27 Jun 09 - 12:21 PM (#2665955) Subject: Boyle,Tyrrall,Boyle From: GUEST,Gordon Tyrrall Just thought I'd drop this into the conversation,so to speak.Tomorrow,28th of June at the New Variety Club, Russell Street, Keighley, "a summer concert" with Maggie Boyle, Gordon Tyrrall, and Gary Boyle.Plus support from the Gin Jammers.Lots of Boyles,(but not Susan, unfortunately). Most folkies will know Maggie - beautiful singer,of irish descent, flute player and bodhranist also, who has played with many renowned musicians, like Steve Tilston,Duck Baker and Grace Notes. Gary Boyle, guitarist, is well-respected in the jazz and pop world (but maybe not really known on the folk scene) and has an astonishing pedigree - including having been in Dusty Springfield's band in the 60s,toured with Millie when she had her hit My Boy Lollipop, and was the original guitarist for Soft Machine (as he happened to mention the other day), but is such a modest, likeable guy its hard to wring these facts out of him.You may gather from this that he's quite good on the guitar. I'll be there too, mucking about on guitar, flute and vocals. |
