I tried to fit "birthday" into the header, but there wasn't enough space. Bees are also welcome ...

Friday and Saturday we hope to be in the beer garden, weather permitting, and the timing of when the bands go on and when the singarounds / showcase spots happen is very flexible.

Many, many years ago, I went to a folk club in Wigan. The club, as usual, was over a pub, and, I think, by the market square ( which I believe has been redeveloped since ). Would that have been THE Wigan Folk Club?

Hi Joan - you may remember I popped up from "down South" early in May to catch the Wigan Club night. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening - and particularly your own singing and playing.

I hope your anniversary weekend goes with a swing and that you all have a great time!

Wish you well - I have been three times and remember enjoying myself enormously. If I remember it was at two different pubs - one on a Tuesday, one on a Thursday and the Thursday one particularly was heaving with people and I had a great time.

Good luck for the future too. Not long to the Golden jubilee.

Guest Tunesmith: Yes, that was our original venue, the Park Hotel, still sadly missed.

Will and Nick, thank you for your kind comments.

We do now meet twice a week, Tuesdays at the Fox & Goose, and Thursdays at the Keepers Inn (Nick, you're probably remembering the Seven Stars, now sadly closed). Details are on our Myspace site, linked to in my first post above, or on our main site Wigan Folk Club.

And before our Golden Jubilee, we will continue to have annual birthday celebrations at the beginning of July, plus our Wigan Day of Folk'n'Verse each Easter Monday. These are all free events and everyone is welcome. Keep an eye on the website(s) for details.
