Just received "The Book of Pirate Songs," Stuart M. Frank, published by The Kendall Whaling Museum, Sharon, Massachusetts, 1998.

A good selection, from old ballads like "John Dory" and "Dansekar" to broadsides to selections from parlor songs and popular songbooks. Lyrics and many with short scores. Informative notes and interesting illustrations.

Stuart M. Frank's book should be mandatory for all pirate wannabees. Of course if they're illiterate the book want do 'em a lot of good but it does have some nice graphics as well.

There ought to be a song about Diomedes, the gutsy pirate who told off Alexander the Great.

We're thinking of an Abba/Pirate fusion concept LP.
