Two Others Named Matilda and Clancy

This isn't exactly BS, but not exactly a music thread, either.

Interesting headline - "New dinosaurs found in Australia "
Is there such a thing?

So, the Banjo is extinct eh?

Scientists believe that four and five string evolved from the earlier three string banjo that roamed Gondwana long ago. They survived by eating simple folk ballads and work songs.
It is unclear whether the long-neck Seegersaurus is related, or an example of unfortunate parallel evolution.

Banjo's kind of cute.

I bet he would've made a nice pet.

Charley "Banjo" Noble

Are you dreaming of setting him on people telling banjo jokes, Charlie?

Wondering what style such a critter would play: clawhammer or 3-claw style...

Bet he would wear out skins quickly...

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the "Orange Blossom Special" went back to the Jurassic.

Could be, but Oranges didn`t exist back then.

So it was propbably known as

Archaefructus eoflora Special

Almost as old as the famous "Gondwana Breakdown"...

"Archaefructus"!

Wow, one would have to take care to announce that song properly.

So back to "Banjo":

Australovenator wintonensis came through the door -
Fie, man, fie!
Australovenator wintonensis came through the door -
Who's the fool now?
Australovenator wintonensis came through the door,
Looking for a young and tender brontosaur,
Thou has well drunken and who's the fool now?

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Okay, Charley, you've nudged me on...
Obvious repeats omitted to save typing:

Witonotitan wattsi once stopped beside a billabong
joined by Diamantinasaurus matildae,
and they slid and got stuck and they died there in that billabong
It seems like a result of evolution to me

then came Australovenator wintonensis looking for an easy meal
He saw them in muck and leap in with glee
and he slid and got stuck and he died there in that billabong
It seems like a result of evolution to me

Next came a scientist encumbered with the latest gear
he bent o'er a fossil in a pile of debris
and he slid and got stuck and he died there in that billabong
It seems like a result of evolution to me

In the distant future the progeny of ticks and bugs
will look into some gooey swamp and what will they see?
The fossilized remains of scientists and motorcars
The end of evolution for all humanity

Okay...not my best work. I can't take the pressure, man.

Skivee-

Know that your creative endeavors are appreciated!

And their ghosts may be heard as you walk by the billabong,
Won't you come a-waltzin' Matilda with me!

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Thanks for the link, Skivee. It's interesting.

I'm intrigued by the word 'Australovenator.' Obviously it means 'thing one makes love with in Australia.' Is that where the banjo, the most amiably charming of instruments, comes in?

I suppose that it could also be "the thing that makes love in the southern regions".

I'll leave the ruder interpretation of this remark to others.
