I typically get 3.7-4.0 MBPS on downloads with broadband...and my firewall and virus checker on. Turning off the virus checker when downloading seems pretty risky to me. |

From: olddude when you download, the downloaded file is buffered and save in cache it is more than risky to turn off your antivirus even if you are scanning afterwords unless you are running a full scan and scanning your cache you now have an infected file on your machine all ready to setup ... not good |

Why have the AV at all if you're doing to do something like that? Set it up to do the download at night after you go to bed. Leave the computer on, scanning, and let your download happen when no one else will be bothered and it won't matter if it is slower. SRS |
