04 Jul 09 - 05:54 PM (#2671656) Subject: Eurogathering Iceland 2010 ......... From: skarpi Now since I thought I had a thread about this , witch is not , becouse I cant find it , then I make this one , the Gathering is on , and will be held in South of Iceland . not far from where all the earthquakes are at the moment :>) not to worry all be done before next year . So lots of music made by you and me , and others hope I can have some Icelandic old dances , old music , rimes , and other folk music a little travel as well around a great landscape . so I just need to know how many are coming , not later than late January / February 2010 , to know how many sleeping spaces I need and how many for food and such ,. It may well be similar aranged like the Getaway :>) . More later . All the best Skarpi Iceland ........ |

14 Aug 09 - 05:35 AM (#2700045) Subject: RE: Eurogathering Iceland 2010 ......... From: skarpi well , if the boat has start after its winter program and you have acar to drive , from the dock to my place , I have no idea how long from Danmark to Foroyjar but from Foroyjar to Iceland its 18 hours sailing , and at least 10 hours drivin from there to me . So goin by its a great Journey :>) with a lot of great Landscape . kv Skarpi |
14 Aug 09 - 07:30 AM (#2700096) Subject: RE: Eurogathering Iceland 2010 ......... From: Jack Campin Maybe somebody could assemble the travel info in one place? I'm not having much luck finding what's available from Scotland. Germanwings have an Edinburgh-Reykjavik flight marked on their map but I can't find it on their schedule. I don't want to have to fly via Norway, England or Germany if I can help it. There used to be regular charter flights bringing Icelanders to Glasgow - do they still operate, and if so can you get on one going the other way? When does the summer ferry schedule get finalized? If they aren't on the web, do they respond to written enquiries? The ferry from Scotland via the Faroes would be ideal, if it's running. But without knowing the travel options and costs I can't decide. |

17 Aug 09 - 08:42 PM (#2702693) Subject: RE: Eurogathering Iceland 2010 ......... From: Jack Campin Seems there aren't any direct flights from Glasgow, those are all via Heathrow (URGHH!!! my least favourite airport on earth) and hence take much longer with much more hassle. But it's still cheap enough. |
