09 Jul 09 - 09:45 PM (#2676214) Subject: BS: I hate People From: olddude No I don't even though I was beaten abused, left for dead along side of a road. I could not walk, my teeth were rotting and broken. I was starved and ridden with illness. They were going to put me to sleep. Then my owner found me, spent a fortune to make me healthy again .. now I spend every day with him even at work. I play with the neighbor kids, I run and chase balls. I sit on my owners lap. When he is sad I lick him until he smiles .. I visit old people at the nursing home and they hold me and pet me and tell me they use to have one that looked just like me. you see even though all of these things happened to me. I still love people signed doolie the wiener dog |

09 Jul 09 - 10:11 PM (#2676225) Subject: RE: BS: I hate People From: olddude all 4 dogs and both cats have a similar story, even the bella puppy you saw (a puppy mill rescue) and every single one will play with any kid anytime or let a nursing home resident hold them. Every dog and even the cats should hate people, they earned that right but instead all they do is show love ... maybe a lesson here |

09 Jul 09 - 10:28 PM (#2676236) Subject: RE: BS: I hate People From: Janie I love people, as long as they do exactly as I want, let me do what ever I want, feed me, and allow me to bite or scratch them whenever I feel cranky, or just because I can. I am a cossetted cat, hand-raised on a bottle since my feline mother didn't have enough milk, catered to, played with, petted and fawned over. How could I not have grown up to be a total narcissist! Ah, here comes one of the two-leggeds I rule and intimidate. Think I'll purr nicely for a petting then bite them when I've had enough. Stella the Cat. |

Cats would never do THAT. Also peeps chaseZ kittehs out of doggie beds so we can get in our own damn bed, even if they do leave it smelling like kitteh. ~S~ |

Now for the last 8 years he has been the happiest, most spoiled and loving dog you can imagine. The nursing home is right behind my office. We always go over and visit and to see the elderly people fussing over him and his tail flying as they pet him ... amazes me. He has no teeth .. we had to remove them to save him .. but eats fine like all wiener dogs ... probably too much and will still fetch a ball and play with the other dogs even now being an old guy |

10 Jul 09 - 03:14 PM (#2676854) Subject: RE: BS: I hate People From: SINSULL All my kitties except Fred were street cats. Poor Ed was dumped on the street in the middle of a blizzard - just a tiny ball of fur left to freeze to death. Lizzie came from LaGuardia airport. I suspect her mother was a stray and she survived as best she could. Alice, the bane of my existence, came to me with cuts and a broken tooth. Some kids thought it was fun to hurt the kitty. I try to remember that when she makes a nuisance of herself. Freddie was born in my closet and has been spoiled since before he was born. Funny - but he is the only thin cat of the lot. The others have known what it is to starve and they eat to ward it off. Old Lizzie is out in the driveway asleep on her back without a care in the world. She makes me smile. Thank you for the thread, Dan. Nice. |

10 Jul 09 - 05:30 PM (#2676957) Subject: RE: BS: I hate People From: Leadbelly 2 month ago an almost blind black tom-cat stood in front of our door on a rainy morning. Looked like a skeleton. We integrated this poor creature into our mixed family of actually 6 cats in total. In the meantime, in spite of doctor's visits, some "drugs" and expenses he's totally blind but this doesn't prevent him to play with our youngest kitty (estimated 8 weeks old) which appeared the same two weeks ago: crying in our garden when I went out to collect my cats late in the evening. She was so tiny (like a guinapig), hungry and helpless. It's a real pleasure to watch them playing now. I assume that's the beginning of a real friendship while our older cats are a little bit suspicious. But that's normal and I believe that they will accept this poor cat in the medium run. It's fantastic to observe how he reacts only being dependent upon his ears. Gives me a new insight on blindness. He knows exactly where to go, after doing this once or twice. He's a real darling. 11 Jul 09 - 01:12 AM (#2677210) Subject: RE: BS: I hate People From: katlaughing That is so neat, Manfred! Good for you and your kitties! We don't get strays any more; our McNab border collie is too vigilant when in the yard. He thinks he can herd cats and tries to head them off at the pass when the neighbour's cats try to sneak through. He has gone deaf, but his sight and smell work just fine and he goes off like a streak of lightning when he sees any one in the yard. I always tell him No and they are always far enough away; there is never any chance of him getting near them. I think they enjoy teasing him and he likes the exercise. The last two cats we have would not be good about anyone new coming in, so I've kind of put the *vibe* out that the LaFrance House for Bums and Strays on the UnderGround Meowmix Railroad is out of order for a few more years. (Of course if I saw one I would take it in and find it a good home.) My daughter's neighbour is a hoarder and never spays or neuters her cats and lets them run all over. My dau. found a new batch of kittens in her garage. She knew they would grow up to mate and come over to her driveway and shed and poop all over as the others have done, so as soon as they were old enough, she gathered them up and took them the shelter. The county doesn't try to do anything about cats; there are so many. There are good people who do take them in and find them homes, etc. |

11 Jul 09 - 06:31 AM (#2677323) Subject: RE: BS: I hate People From: Mooh Rosie The Wonder Dog (Springer/Collie/Coyote?) is getting pretty creaky these days. She can't run like the wind and jump like an NBA star like she used to, though she tries. The grumpiness hasn't diminished her use as a guard dog, and she has trained Cosmo The Other Dog well too. She seems like she has some pain, but the vet can't pinpoint it. Nonetheless, she dotes on me, cuddles, kisses, and gets excited when I return from anywhere even if I've only been gone for a few minutes. She's smart (you may remember her posting here in the past...I don't like her using the laptop though), but she was the unwanted runt of the litter, and might not have survived if we hadn't fallen in love with her 12 years ago. I know there will come a day, but I can't imagine life without her. Cosmo The Other Dog (Corgi/Lab) is the happiest dog alive. He's affectionate, clever, athletic, and like Rosie, obedient. Unlike Rosie, he likes Beatrice The Cat. His drool is like wallpaper paste and playing frisbee requires a heavy leather glove. Both dogs are great company and they love people, though there always seems to be folks they like more, and folks they like less. Rosie especially comes unhinged when certain friends or family come around. Cosmo can often be indifferent towards other folks. I hope I never get too old to have dogs. Peace, Mooh. |

15 Jul 09 - 11:26 PM (#2681176) Subject: RE: BS: I hate People From: ranger1 All of my pets have been second or third hand. Clancy (also a Wonder Dog), was a sweet, polite, quiet dog at the pound that wasn't my first choice, but was the recommendation of the shelter manager. She was right, he was the Perfect Dog. I had him for nearly 15 years and he was ever the perfect gentleman. This was Bandit's webpage on Petfinder that Jason fell in love with. He came to us from Tennessee, a frightened, distrustful, formerly abused dog that wouldn't leave the house with Jason for the first nine months we had him. These are Bandit now. He still won't leave the house with Jason for longer than it takes to pee, but that's because he's a snively, snotty, slimy-nosed Mumma's Boy. He is not the Perfect Dog, but I love him anyway. The Stupid Cat (aka Caitlin) was dumped in the campground at the park that I worked at ten years ago (and where I once again work). I should have known she was mentally defective when I found her, she was starving to death in a campground full of fat, simple-minded, slow-moving rodents. I wasn't going to keep her, animal control just never answered the phone. She came home just for the night. They never come home just for the night. I now know that, and haven't brought another one home since. Besides, Kitty doesn't play well with others. All three of them were strays and treated pretty poorly, based on how they were found, yet I've received nothing but affection from any of them. |
