BS: Is there any way to block PMs?

Can you block certain posters from PMing you, please?
No, we don't have that feature, and we haven't seen a need for it. If you have problem personal messages, ignore and delete them; or contact me directly if it's a persistent problem. In the future, if you have a question like this, please post it to me in a personal message or in the FAQ.

Just do less to annoy people?

Be thankful they are PMs, not on the forum.

Very good, Jack... LOL

...but it's just ONE person I need to block. Sorry to disappoint you.

Yeah, well, to be honest, kendall, I'd rather they *were* on the forum, but I doubt others would feel the same way. I did say I'd put them out here if they didn't stop, but thought better of it because it would bore the pants off folks.

I've just started deleting them now, without even opening them, so tired am I of the lies and vitriol contained within them. Maybe that's the best thing to do, just delete, delete, delete....but on Myspace you can block people from even contacting you in the first place, so I just wondered if you could do that here. That's all.

There is no 'law' requiring you to open anything from any member you don't wish to - so just ignore/delete them!

Oh I see you just wanted to attack an idividual Lizzie and there was I thinking you genuinely wanted some advice - silly me!

If you're genuinely getting PMs which are personal attacks on you and full of vitriol, as you say, then it seems a perfectly reasonable question to ask. And if they are as you say they are, perhaps a word with a Mod may be in order - it's difficult to advise without knowing substance and context.

I don't believe that PMs of that nature should ever be sent to another 'Catter. We may squabble, argue like cat and dog, shout at each other and be generally sarcy and picky on the Forum, but there's no need to take such stuff as far as a personal attack. There's no need to get nasty in private, no matter how serious or entrenched the debate. I've let rip, now and then, in the past, but I resist the temptation now.

But what do I know...

Tell us who is messing with you via a PM and we can send them a ton of PM shit and see how they like it. There is no reason for personal attacks ever. Will got it right, argue and disagree about a topic but personal attacks especially a PM ... me I would knock them off the site if I controlled it

That was totally uncalled for Emma, in my opinion. Please note that no mention of any name has been given, nor any hint of who it is either, nor will there be. This is not about 'attacking' an individual at all, just simply asking a question.

Fate?

Well, right now it's just after 5am where Joe Offer lives, but I expect you will get an answer eventually.

There's no way to block PMs, but there may be a way to block the individual.

Contact Joe, and as with trolls in other places, let their PMs be as silent emissions of flatulence that do you no harm unless you allow them to infiltrate your nostrils, and are swept away by a slight breeze. Ignore and delete.

And as I'm guessing you knew the right thing to do before you asked publicly, I'm closing this thread.
