He was a quadriplegic musician and played in the bluegrass band called Goldrush with his brothers Mark and Kevin Rast. The played many places including the Greentree Festival and at Focal Point and the Chelsea House Coffeehouse in Vermont and the Fox Hollow Folk Festival in upstate New York. His family, the Boyer Family of Kirkwood, has performed together as a band for the past 40 years, specializing in traditional folk music. Mr. Boyer's family music was passed down from his great-grandfather over four generations. As a young teenager, he helped his parents work at their music store, Music Folk, 8015 Big Bend in Webster Groves. A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 12, 3 p.m., at Faith Des Peres Presbyterian Church, 11155 Clayton Road in Frontenac. |
