You list any cd's you've got that you're willing to give away and anyone who wants one can request it. For each cd you send off you are entitled to request another cd from someone else. Seems like a brilliant idea. No money changes hands, you can send a cd to one person and request a cd from a different person, but overall no-one loses out. Is anyone aware of a similar scheme running in the U.K.? |

Old CDs make excellent bird scarers if dangled on string near newly seeded areas in the garden. There's also a kit available to turn a CD into a clock... |

You get rid of a CD you bought but don't listen to any more, you acquire one you will at least listen to once. You may discover a new artist and buy more of their stuff. Would anyone object if you flogged your unwanted CDs at a car boot sale? |

If it stays unwanted in one collection, it won't get played, so passing it on to someone else who might enjoy it is good - and if they really like it, hopefully they would go looking for more. However, yes, I can see that there might be a problem with copying - but that can happen now, just by someone borrowing a CD from someone who's got it. Personally, I like to have a copy of CDs I like, so that I have all the notes on the songs, etc., etc., but maybe that's just me. Barbara |

If you don't swap your CDs, then you'll probably just get rid of them in a second-hand store -- which the musician also doesn't see any money from. My brother just gave my oldest son one of his old Clash CDs that he doesn't listen to anymore. Isn't that the same concept? I don't know. It's all a pretty muddy issue. |
