Hi Zen
I don't know you, but why would you be leaving? Has somebody upset you or what?

Zen is obviously a Dolphin and we should read through his messages to discover the truth about their perspective on the world.

It's making me wonder about Liz the Squeak ... is she doing experiments on us? is she friends with Slartibartfast?

I think we should be told!!

I only see posts from 2008 to now, so guess you must've lurked a lot or the search thingie is on the fritz. Doesn't matter, really, I just always like to read back what folks have to say. I see you must've enjoyed a Scottish Mudgathering and that is GOOD! Hope life treats you well and please feel free to come back anytime.

ATB,

kat

I can never relate to these "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" references at all. I tried reading it once, but couldn't sustain any interest.

Imagine how I felt after I bought the set. Ask not for whom the bell tolls.... because it just peals on and on and on with vague crap and a sad story that really seems like it was being made up by the paragraph, devoid of any feelings for the reader.

Well R, you're better off out of it mate. The undercurrents and the shit and lies that fly around here have pissed me off too.
Better to go before you find that people are sending PM's to third parties, accusing you of doing things you never did. That's what has been happening to me, and that's why I don't come here much any more.

And when it happens in Mudchat, it's for everyone present to read.

From: Emma B

And when people are deliberately provoked in mudchat in stage managed confrontations it doesn't make for friendly conversation either - especially when the ensuing deliberately engineered arguments are copied and cynically re edited.

As for PMs - I have a collection from friends and strangers alike and forwarded on to me, perpetuating a mean vendetta of a bully and with the sole intention of wrecking or spoiling friendships and spreading malicious lies

Editing is something I would never do. No need.

I agree about the bullying... it was so bad that I and others were forced elsewhere... some even left The Café altogether.

But, I have said it all before... goodbye.

STOP!
This bickering is exactly what is causing people to leave. Above the line used to be a font of information on music, lyrics, performers - brilliant stuff. Below the line used to be (mostly) witty and urbane humor mixed with intelligent discussions of current events.
It has been dragged down to the lowest common denominator. Unfunny unhumorous drivel and mean spirited attacks.
Your petty quarrels are destroying this forum.

R, good luck to you.

Oh... I just thought of something else for a discussion about leaving in circumstances such as those above.

Once again, I would like to thank Max and the moderators for the "freedom of speech" policy and all the hard work they do. Some may say they are "just human", but the mods did a pretty good job of curbing the bullying and nastiness as much as they could when I and others called upon their help. They can't work miracles, but they did what they could. One in particular... thanks again.

I would like to see a Mudchat where posts remained viewable for a couple of days. I think that would hold the tongues of bullies accountable. But, I realize it might not be in the budget just yet.

Sorry about that... until my memory kicks in again, goodbye.

Well I spend less and less time on the forum. I made a decision some time back not to use other chat rooms once mudchat was back in action. I have now decided that Mudchat is the ONLY room I will use as the behind closed doors practises in private rooms has obviously lead to some very unpleasant results and I wish to be open. I have seen the results of personal attacks and think it is time Mudchat went back to being the happy meeting place it once was! If folk can't come in there without snide remarks or things they say being taken out of context and repeated in forums outside of mudcat then its about time they could!

Yes, Ducky... I have agreed for well over two years. Still like the idea of a chat where posts are kept online for a couple days so that everyone could read them.... especially the modereators.

From: Jeri

There's something seriously wrong with people still trying to get others to join their side in a vendetta over something that may or may not even have happened OVER TWO YEARS AGO! For fuck's sake, if you can't get over it, don't want to try to talk to the 'other side' then shut up about it and stop trying to recruit other haters.

And if this thread continues to be a place to play out a stupid vendetta, I think it should be closed. I believe 'Zen' is long gone and his leaving has more than a little to do with the pettiness evident in this thread.

To everyone else, if anyone, no matter how much you think you like them, tries to convince you that a third party is evil, look for the evil in the one trying to convince you. Only really fucked up, nasty people want you to hate someone. Walk on and leave them, with their other nasty friends, to their own cult of anti-whomeverism.

I'm really sick of what the nasties do here. Don't even consider the thought you can get away with blaming the 'other' guys. Your choice, your behavior, your demonization, your logged-out, not-so anonymous posting. You. Not 'them'.

And I don't want PMs. If it has to do with this two year old chat room bullshit, I don't even care. It's OVER. Mudcat is not gang turf.

Amen, Jeri. I also would note that THIS mod, at least, would have NOTHING to do with the chat, as a moderator. Of course I don't anyway, but there is no way I would take that on, too. If adults can't get along then they need to get out...this is not the schoolyard and we are not the recess monitors, though lately that's what it's been feeling like.
